Before we checked in to Sentosa Villa, we stopped at Ipoh for lunch.
Restaurant that furnished a snap into my mind immediately that time ~ The legendary Foh San!
It was my virgin visit to Foh San so you can imagine how anticipate I am since there has been so much rave & enthusiasm going about. This new double storey building is spacious, bright an sparingly decorated with framed Chinese calligraphy.
Equipped with plenty of ceiling fans & air-conditioners.
Service was prompt & we got our Chinese tea served in a jiffy after our order.
Auntie pushing dim sum cart.
烧卖 Siew Mai (Pork Dumpling)
Quite decent with firm & tasty pork filling.
虾饺 Har Gau (Prawn Dumpling)
With fresh & bouncy prawn filling.
芋角 Wu Kok (Yam Puff)
Crispy exterior, smooth yam paste & the savory char siew filling = an impeccable combination! Most important it was not greasy/oily at all!
叉烧包 Char Siew Bao (BBQ Pork Bun)
Fluffy & soft bun encased the sweet & sticky char siew filling, oh I like this!
虾卷 Fried Prawn Roll
Deep fried beancurd sheet with prawn & pork filling was a bit oily~
蒸排骨 Steamed Spare Ribs
A must order for me whenever I have dim sum & I’m quite picky on it too. Foh San version was on a stellar level in my humble opinion as the ribs were tender & infused with flavorful and enticing marinade. I love the fermented black beans
It really surprised me when I found diced yam underneath the ribs! I never see this at any dim sum restaurant at KL!
马来糕 Ma Lai Gou
Fluffy & light with some kuaci bites, I love this too!
Take Away Counter
Verdict: Overall a pleasant dining experience~ good & decent dim sum, reasonable price & prompt service.

wow.. GOOD!
Indeed!
I heard about this place before from few bloggers and it seems like it is a MUST-GO place when you go or pass by Ipoh. Next time I gonna try it too..
A must go place, haha! Kiasu mah
yum… so this is a good stop! I must do this when I drive home Pg…. XD
Can try out since so many people blogged about it!
I like their Foh San dim sum..but I only had it once before they moved to this new building =_=
Ya, I read your review
Love the old Chinese decorating style ~
Classic~
went there recently.. still nice and so many people.. haha
Always crowded but luckily we were there slightly after lunch time~
I also love the Steamed Spare Ribs very much! shake hand.. XD
Looks like KL dim sum restaurants have a lot of catching up to do…
Hmm…. correct!
The ambiance does look very nice but we had bad experience at Foh San
I read about your pity experience, maybe give it a second chance?
Good idea to go for lunch… not that crowded. We usually go for breakfast (leave home at 6:30am) and the morning crowd always drives me crazy… I hate standing beside the tables to wait for people to finish eating! They should come up with a better waiting system like taking numbers or something…
Ya, heard many people complaint about the standing & wait
Glad that you found the service to be of reasonable quality and speed. I was expecting snide remarks though, since most were disappointed with the new Foh San.
Myself included.
Me was there at off peak hour
The only food I am missing there is the BBQ Pork Bun. Did you try any of the desserts?
No, only 2 of us + daughter, can’t eat too much
This place is a little overrated IMO, but I must admit I like the settings of FS. Gives you the kinda ol’ Shanghai mansion feel.
