Gao Ren Guan

My ancestors were from GaoZhou and they spoke GaoZhou language. If you ask me how’s the dialect sound like, I am utterly no idea because even my late father don’t know about the dialect too >.<. From some sources in internet, I knew that the pronunciation of GaoZhou language sound similar with Cantonese, for further detail please read here.

OK, enough for the story telling, let’s proceed to the more interesting part -> FOOD! The GaoZhou cuisine to be exact!

Gao Ren Guan 高人馆, the only restaurant that serve GaoZhou food in Klang Valley, enlighten me if I’m wrong.

At Jaya One outlet on a weekend, fullhouse~~

Fact about GaoZhou printed on the menu.

Chinese Tea (RM 2.00 / pax)

Braised Pork Belly with Yam 家乡扣肉 (RM 18.00 – Small)

One of my favorite Chinese dish! Tender pork belly with exquisite layers of fat & the yam sitting side by side then doused in aromatic & flavorful (salty?) gravy. Definitely a dish meant to be go with white rice :P *Drooling*

Steamed Chicken with Mushroom & Chinese Sausage 冬菇蜡肠蒸鸡 (RM 14.00 – Small)

Perfectly steamed chicken where the juiciness of the meat still retained, the mushroom had provided the extra pleasant earthy flavor to it too. The gravy with shredded gingers and spring onions was a fabulous companion to our white rice too!

Stir Fried “GaoZhou” Lettuce with Dace in Black Bean 豆鼓鲮鱼炒高州心 (RM 16.00 – Small)

The GaoZhou lettuce had slightly bitter taste but the dace neutralized it well. Although I know the dace in black bean is canned food, I still LOVE it especially the black bean :P

Saw these pre-packed food at the fridge at the entrance.

Verdict: The dishes served were leaned towards a very home-cooked auro, really look like something will appear in my mom’s kitchen :) Prices also quite affordable.
