Restoran Xin Xin Kee

** Please read till the end of the post, something good is waiting for you! **

It’s been raining everyday lately and what is better than having a pipping hot soupy food to warm your tummy and soul? Bak Kut Teh is something furnish a snap into my mind when I think of “comfort food”~~

It was a rainy night when I visit Restoran Xin Xin Kee with group of friends and we all came with growling tummies  😛  The restaurant was brightly lit and spacious with a few framed photos of their signature item adorning the wall.

These photos are enticing enough to make us, the famished people drooling over it ~.~

Chinese Tea – Bak Kut Teh best companion 🙂

Oil Rice (RM 2.00), White Rice (RM 1.20)

Beancurd Puff (RM 3.00 / serving)

Big Bone (RM 15.00 – RM 20.00 / serving for 2 persons)

Instead the usual claypot Bak Kut Teh (BKT)  with various meat and spare parts, we opted to have big bone alone. Very meaty indeed with layers of wobbly fat meat & lean meat drenched in BKT soup. Despite the dark colour of the soup, the herbal taste was mild with hint of sweetness.

Dry Bak Kut Teh (RM 10.00 / serving for 1 person)

Being fans of dry BKT, I am anticipated towards this but it’s quite a let down.  The sauce was lack of distinctive fragrance of dried cuttlefish; far from being impressive 🙁

Braised Pork Knuckle (RM 10.00 / serving for 1 person)

Compare with the BKT soup, I prefer the gravy of braised dishes. The gravy with robust taste of various herbs and spices but not too overwhelming.

Rice Wine Chicken (RM 20.00 / serving for 2 persons)

Chunks of chicken cooked with home made rice wine with plenty of julienned gingers provide the extra kick to the soup. According to the owner this is one of the most popular dish in their restaurant, so be there early to avoid disappointment.

Thousand Layers Pork Intestine (RM 10.00 / serving for 1 person)

Braised Chicken Feet (RM 6.00 / serving for 1 person)

We had 2 servings of this braised chicken feet that night, so you can imagine how delicious is this! Braised till fall-of-the-bone easily…

Vegetarian Bak Kut Teh (RM 6.00 / serving for 1 person)

Consisted of beancurd sheets, beancurd puffs, enoki mushroom and vegetable.

Good News!!! The owner is generous enough to give discount of 10% off total bill + FREE 1 bowl of beancurd puff costed RM 3.00 to my reader when he knew that I’m a blogger 🙂 Please print out the brochure below and quote my blog’s URL (www.choiyen.com) to entitled for this offer!
