Afternoon Tea @ Swich Cafe

After reading her post about the Afternoon Tea at Swich Cafe, Publika, I can’t wait and throw a  gossip gathering for my girl friends, Hooray!

Afternoon Tea Set for 2 @ RM 55.00+, available at Swich Cafe, Publika from 3 pm to 6 pm on weekends. You will be given 1 choice of cake from the display (there were only four choices that day) and select your tea from the extensive tea menu. They serve Teapigs fine tea origin from UK.

The three-tier tray consisted of 2 types of sandwiches, puff pastries, cupcake, our selection of cake, pavlova and scones, pretty generous in portion considering the price we paid.

From the bottom tier:-

Egg Mayo Sandwich ~ Generously stuffed with filling, simple but nice 🙂

IMG_5391

Chicken Rendang Sandwich ~ Definitely a better alternative to those tiny size finger sandwich you get from “premium” Afternoon Tea Set at hotels.

IMG_5392

Tuna Puffs ~ I merely can taste the tuna filling >.<

From the middle tier:-

Pavlova with Berries ~ Not too sweet and the sourness from the passion fruit puree topping complement each others well.

IMG_5387

Cupcake ~ Can’t really figured out the flavor which was quite mild.

Our choice of cake ~ Carrot and Cranberry Cake

Firm and packed with carrot, cranberry and walnut bits.

From the top tier:-

Scones with Cream and Swich’s Homemade Cherry Jam

The raisin scones were light and adequately buttery, quite a good stuff when slathered with the clotted cream and cherry jam.

Tea came with the Afternoon Tea Set ~ We opted for Rooibos Creme Caramel Tea which very aromatic but somehow very light in flavor when drinking it. One also can choose to have 2 Long Black instead of a pot of tea.

Iced Latte (RM 10.00+)

IMG_5410

Valrhono Chocolate (RM 12.00+)

Swich’s Mangosteen Hokkaido Cake (RM 6.90+)

Hokkaido milk sponge cake was fluffy however I hardly tasted any mangosteen flavor from the cream. Arghhh…. my most anticipated Mangosteen cake was sold out ~>_<~

Soursop Cake (RM 10.90+)

Sponge cake made with soursop fruit was not fluffy enough in my books. (my personal preference though). The soursop cream and fresh soursop chunks successfully made this piece of cake more refreshing to the palate nonetheless~

There are small selection of pastas & other mains in the menu too such burger and pizza for those who want a more substantial meal.

Soft Shell Crab with Salted Egg Pasta (RM 22.00+)

This definitely out of our expectation, we expected something similar with our Chinese style salted egg cooking style (think of salted egg crab) but the pasta came with aglio olio style topped with fried soft shell crab & rockets and  scattered with salted egg. The pasta itself was quite bland and the ingredients seem like not really associated well, quite a let down to be honest.

Please bear in mind that Swich Cafe @ Publika is just a small kiosk set up located between Baby Loft and Wings at level G3  with tables and chairs spread along the passageway.

Verdict: The Afternoon Tea is worthy of $ considering the portion although the quality of the cakes/pastries not at top notch. I will return for the infamous Mangosteen & Cempedak cakes.
