Annie 1 Family Restaurant @ Damansara Uptown
What make Annie 1 Family Restaurant stand out among the countless eateries at the food hub of Damansara Uptown, P.J?
I was amazed by the crowd at Annie 1 during my visit on a Saturday afternoon – before my Miru Dessert Cafe visit. The two-shop lot-restaurant was fully occupied and we had to stand beside a table to secure ourselves seats.
Iced Tea & Cincao Drink
Annie 1 offer wide variety of Ipoh hawker fare such as the famous Menglembu wonton mee, curry mee, chee cheong fun, rice with various savoury sides, Glutinous Rice with Kaya, Toast, Yam Cake, Caramel Egg Custard and many more.
Dry Wonton Mee with Char Siew & Wonton (RM 6.80)
I came for the raved Menglembu wonton mee and it lived up to my expectations. It was nicely cooked – the noodles were springy and free from alkaline taste. The noodles have all the requirements of a good plate of wonton mee. After I mixed them with the dark sauce, I gobbled everything up in a jiffy!
The char siew is equally good. The caramelised outer layer envelops the tender meat making it very savoury and sweet. The wonton is decent but nothing to shout about. It is a no-brainer that I will definitely have it again on my next visit!
Curry Mee with “Yong Liew” (RM 6.80)
I tried the curry mee next and it was pretty satisfying with the right level of spiciness. It was served with a thick and creamy broth, and chock-full of “yong liew” (stuffed fish paste). I like how the ingredients are soaked in the curry broth and as it creates a burst of flavours when I bite into them.
My verdict: It is definitely a place worthy of a revisit to explore more of their menu. The caramel egg custard is my next target!

This is the only restaurant that I patronize most frequently each month. I will eat there every week as the good taste, very good white coffee and cheap price attracts me. All my guests from Penang and Singapore greatly love this place too. They will always remind me to bring them again whenever they visited KL. The bosses are a senior couple who are so humble, always smiling and running the show. You didn’t try their signature Caramel Custard from Ipoh style?? Yummy!
The caramel custard is my next target!
Ooooh. Very cheap price. I may go there to try the curry noodles. Hard to find good curry noodles these days.
Give that wonton mee a try too, very nice~
i’ve actually not eaten at annie 1 before, i think … i’d also go for the curry noodles, since it looks quite attractive 🙂
Hopefully it suit your taste bud 🙂
Next time, do try the Curry Laksa Supreme (RM8.50 when I last had it)….with even more yummy ingredients! The Ipoh white coffee and caramel egg custard is quite good too (and better if it was less sweet) but I’m not sure how the egg custard compares to the ones in Ipoh as I’ve not had them in Ipoh before.
I don’t drink coffee so the caramel custard will be my next target!
Menglembu? I thought you meant Menglembu in KK! I lived in KK for 2 years, and I stayed in Inanam and Menglembu – both have good noodles, Inanam is more famous for their beef noodles (ngau chap mee) and I was puzzled coz I’ve never heard of Menglembu having good wantam mee and then I realized you meant Menglembu in Ipoh. Haha. I’ve been to that Menglembu once (the Ipoh one) and remember having wantan mee at the Wai Sek Kai. Good stuff.
Oh, thanks for telling me that there is a Menglembu at KK! But this Menglembu wonton mee is from Ipoh, Perak 😛
Their sui kow also very sedap. A lot of liu in it.
Parking is a headache.
Parking always horrendous at that area, last week I parked in a parking building when I dined in at that area.
Is this restaurant in Ipoh or KL? My husband is drooling just looking at the picture. He loves good wonton mee
It’s at Damansara Uptown, address can be found at the end of the blog post 🙂
