Gangnam 88 @ Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara
The recent Korean drama of “You Who Came From The Stars” has created so much hype and me no exception too hooked up into Du Min Joon Xi. (one of the character played by Kim Soo Hyun) Not only allured by the good looking artists and trendy fashions but also rendering a constant craving for Korean food! So when my craving reached a maximum level I make a beeline for Gangnam 88 to fulfill the Korean food craving on a rainy Saturday night 😛
Took the elevator up to the first floor at Sunway Giza Mall, we were greeted by a wall full of photos of happy patrons and colourful stickers at the entrance.
One of the dining area once you entering the restaurant, pretty simple layout with plenty of seats. We were ushered by the friendly staff to another area further inside.
A cool and funky interior with huge K-pop idols poster adorning the wall, K-pop music videos played on the flat-screen TVs on the walls.
Tables near the glass window panel overlooking the mall.
While waiting for the food, let me camwhore first! With the famous Mr. PSY, Oppa Gangnam Style!
PS: The affable staff allowed us to choose our table and the tatami style seat with this eye-catching gigantic PSY’s poster definitely the best option 😛
Green Tea (RM 5.00+)
The banchan (side dishes) were served in these colourful small bowls, oh feel so cheerful by just looking at it! Variety might not as much as this but our several requests for refilling the addictive sweet and crunchy anchovies was fulfilled.
Galbi (RM 33.00+)
Looking around the dining area, no hanging ventilators was seen because all their BBQ dishes are prepared in the kitchen and this lets us enjoy the grilled meat without worrying about the aftermath (smell like your grilled meat after meal LOL)
The iron pan was half covered with grilled marinated pork and some sliced potatoes and lettuce on the other side of the pan.
The enticing aroma of the grilled meat attacked our nostrils and made us couldn’t wait any longer! One piece and I’m sold! Succulent & well marinated meat, the flavors literally burst in my mouth after I bite into it!
Some condiments to go with the BBQ meat.
Kimchi Jjigae (RM 20.00+)
The pipping hot kimchi stew was brimming with ingredients such as sliced pork bellies, kimchi, tofu, onions, glass noodle and some vegetables. The soup had just the right balance of spicy and sour however I hope the flavor can be a little bit more intense. I enjoyed it nonetheless as it was such a brilliant tummy warmer for a rainy night 🙂
Sam was given a kid’s cutlery set filled with some foods such as bean sprout soup, Japanese tofu and fruit salad, definitely a sign of a child-friendly restaurant.
Verdict: Love the friendly and attentive service and the food also above average in my books. I would like to try their signature beer chicken on next visit perhaps the Solaris outlet which is nearer for me 😛
