Gangnam 88 @ Sunway Giza Mall (Revisit)
I had a sudden craving for Korean food after so many days of Chinese food during the recent festive holiday. Together with my family, we off to Gangnam 88 located at Sunway Giza Mall for lunch on a fine Saturday.
This was my 3rd time here because I like the attentive service as well as the youthful and easy going vibe of this cheerfully designed restaurant.
Green Tea & Corn Tea (RM 5.00+)
Grape Juice (RM 5.00+)
Korean meal always kick started with a plethora of small dishes and they are refillable at no additional costs.
Since we were in a group of 7 persons (4 adults & 3 kids), we opted for their Family Set (RM 185.00+) which is fit for 5-6 pax.
We are given choices of Squid Jjambbong Jeongol, Mini Octopus Jjambbong Jeongol, Chicken Jeongol or Mini Octopus Jeongol for Korean Jeongol.
Mini Octopus Jjambbong Jeongol
Served piping hot on the portable stove, our mini octopus stew filled with lots of ingredients such as mini octopus, mussels, clams, vegetables, mushrooms, dumplings and ramen swam in a pool of kimchi based soup. As the stew boils, the soup intensify in flavours and the ingredient are gently cook to absorb the pungent and spicy kimchi flavours. I especially adored the dumpling, as one bite into it, the burst of spicy soup absorbed filled the mouth with a concoction of meaty flavors from the meat filling.
It was unanimous that we all enjoyed the stew with its balanced medley of savoury, sweet and spicy flavours.
As for the Korean BBQ, we had Pork BBQ while other choices available are Kimchi Pork Belly BBQ, Chicken BBQ & Butter Kimchi Pork Belly BBQ.
The meat was grilled in the kitchen and served to our table, so there is no such problem of smell like the BBQ meat after the meal. The quality of the meat wasn’t anything to get excited about, but they were well-marinated, tender and moist.
Korean Fried Chicken
Well executed fried chicken with crunchy outer coated with sweet and sour sauce. I like how they added crushed peanuts to the fried chicken to give it another texture and nutty flavour. This definitely hit among the kids as I saw Sam and my niece and nephew had a few helpings.
Mini Octopus Pajeon
A hearty pancake studded with mini octopus (overloaded with mini octopus that day >_<“), spring onions, carrot and onions. The Pajeon here had a crispy edge with a tender doughy center generously filled with ingredients. A classic Korean favorite that I have always enjoyed.
Kimchi Jjigae
Also part of the set is the long standing favouriteof kimchi stew. Whole pot of Korean goodness bubbling with flavours, this is one item that we can never get sick of. Robust, piquant and addictive, the version is here is nicely balanced with good heat, savory and sweet and sour notes. There are lots of kimchi as well as other vegetables, beancurd and pork belly slices in the soup which again makes it a nutritional one pot meal on its own with rice and banchan.
Happy faces of satiated customers ^__*
Verdict: impeccable service, decent Korean food and comfortable setting which is great for all types of gatherings. Will definitely have my next family gathering here again!

You are welcome 🙂
看了口水直流,勾起我的韩国菜隐。。最近我常弄泡菜料理呢!
我要看烹饪文 😛
that’s a lot of baby octopus in the stew! generous serving 🙂
It’s definitely more than generous!
There’s no such thing as a mini octopus overload! 😀 The more, the merrier!
A good jaw exercise when eating the mini octopus, I had almost 3/2 of those as my family not really fan of mini octopus =.=”
I trust you! I must try this place since it was your 3rd visit! I love Korean food and anything Korean! I watch Korean TV channels daily and have a Kakaotalk chat with all my ex college mates who live in Seoul. They are really as silly and funny in real life, as their TV shows of Gag Concert and Running Man.
I love their Kim Chi Stew and pancakes!
Your 2 kids are beautiful.
