Gloria Residences Ion Delemen @ Genting Highlands

It’s always summer in Malaysia! Well except for the highlands such as Genting Highland.

For the late 70s babies & Kl-lians such me and hubby, Genting will always remain an integral part of our lives. As a kid, it was the place to go for arcades (while your parents went for “investment” activities.) As a teen, it was the place when you went for short holiday getaway with your buddies. As a young adult, it was the place for short joyride other than the trip to the usual mamak. Heck, I even spent some years working at the peak. 🙂

The management of Genting Highland been doing a great job for the past few years in revitalising the place into the new era with Premium Outlets, malls, indoor theme park and loads of eateries. With the news that the outdoor theme park is back on track, it is high time to consider this place as a great staycation place.

But do they have the options of accomodations suitable for family in bracing for soon-to-be larger crowds? Enter the Gloria Residence in offering you a large apartment living within a stone throw away from the centre of attractions.

Located approximately 6000 feet above sea level, Gloria Residences Ion Delemen is a mere 45 minutes away by car and only 9 minutes away from Genting Highland’s City of Entertainment and First World Plaza.

The reception counter is simple with ample of seats for the guests.

HotSpot Café at the lobby level which offers a selection of deli items, coffee, tea, and desserts for dine in and take away.

Opening hours: 8.00am to 8.00pm

After the swift check in process, we checked into our 75m2 2-bedroom Family Suite and were impressed by its spaciousness. The two blocks of serviced apartments with 331 units of rooms and suites of various sizes are managed by Gloria Hotels & Resorts from China.

We were greeted by the bright and nicely spacious living area and kitchenette once entered the suite. The interior was simple with soothing tone which exudes a homey feel that’s capable to put people at ease.

The usual amenities such as the LED television, mini fridge, complimentary water, coffee and tea and free in-room wifi are provided.

The shoe cabinet at the entrance. Opened only on last December, I like that everything is well functioning and spick and span.

The master bedroom adopted a modern chic design with cream and white theme. Nicely spaced, the King size bed was set in the middle and flanked by the usual bedside tables with lamps. While it’s nothing fancy, the room is pleasantly comfortable with the bed is facing the work space cum vanity desk as well as the LED TV.

The room was completed with wardrobe, luggage cabinet, room slippers, mini safe box, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and bathrobes.

The en-suite bathroom has a glassed panel shower room with rain shower and handheld shower head bath, along with the usual toiletries.

The second room was equipped with a bunk bed, working desk and wardrobe, simply perfect for family with kids.

Sky Garden and children playground.

Located at the Sky Garden, the heated in-door swimming pool and children’s pool is the perfect place to lounge and relax be it on a cold or sunny day.

Opening hours: 6.00am to 10.00pm

HOME

Level 1, Tower Jade.

Opening Hours: 07:00 – 23:00

Breakfast was served at HOME, all-day-dining restaurant. The buffet spread wasn’t really extensive but there were quite a few unique dishes that rarely seen at usual hotel’s breakfast buffet such as Chinese boiled soup, scallion pancakes and pan fried dumplings.

Other dining options available are Kembali Kitchen, Hugo’s, Dakka Station and The Tavern In The Sky.

We took the property’s shuttle service to go up to Genting Highlands which scheduled on an hourly basis. Advanced reservation at concierge counter is recommended as the seats are limited and based on first come, first served basis.

We visited the Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park which is located in First World Plaza and adjacent to SkyAvenue, the latest lifestyle mall at Resorts World Genting. There are more than 20 exciting rides such as the classic carousel ride (Royal Carousel), ferris wheel (Skyscraper), tea cup ride (Tea Cups), bumper car ride (Boo Boo Bump) as well as the thrill rides like Spin Crazy, Disco!, Power Surge and Music Express.

The SkySymphony which is performed every hour from at Level 1, SkyAvenue is not to be missed too. I watched twice (first time was during Chinese New Year this year) and the show never fail to mesmerize me with its dynamic transformation of 1,001 winch balls suspended from a four-storey high ceiling, accompanied by cinematic visuals and music mix.

♥Verdict: Overall, we were satisfied with our stay at Gloria Residences Ion Delemen. Comfy and clean room with adequate amenities and facilities. The breakfast was just decent and nothing to pinpoint but nothing to praise either. My only grouch was the elevators were insufficient to cope with the property’s capacity.

  • Waaa…didn’t know about this new place pun. Thanks for sharing.
What did u work as last time? Was it fun? A good experience I guessed. 😉

    • Mel, there are a few new accommodation options nearby Genting Highlands area now, maybe you can check them out when u have a plan to visit there. I worked as casino croupier for Baccarat game before I started my colleague life and it was indeed a very unique working experience.

  • “Investment” activities hah..hah..hah… I haven’t been up there for ages! The last time was when I was in secondary school. So that’s a long time. I am sure there are lots to see as you have showcased here. The only thing I remember is that it was not as cold as it used to be when I visited as a child.

    • PH, that’s a very looooooong time since your last Genting Highlands trip LOL
Weather was quite cooling during my visit (outdoor) but couldn’t feel anything when you’re indoor though.

  • the weather in kl today does make me wanna escape to genting! will keep gloria residence in mind for my family too! 😀

    • Sean, Genting Highlands is not far from KL, definitely can go anytime. But make sure you book your accommodation beforehand unless you want to do the “investment” activities overnight, LOL

  • Oh, another new accommodation in Genting. I’ve also not been to there in a long while….but not as long as PH though…hehehe! 😉 I think staying away from Genting’s main city of entertainment may be a better option for holiday relaxation as I can see from the pics it’s not as overly crowded and hectic away from the heart of everything (unless you were there on a weekday!). ^_~
