Hatyai Trip 2013 ~ Temples Visit

We had hired a driver for one day trip on our second day in Hatyai and he had arranged a full itinerary for us, are you ready? Let’s go!

After our satisfying breakfast (blog post will be up soon :P), we proceed to our first destination, a temple! Basically that day was a temples visit day, we’ve visit 5 temples under the hot scorching weather *sweat a bucket*

Temple #1

The entrance of the first temple with a grand golden arch. Sorry I can’t get the exact name of this place.

Temple #2 ~ Chedi Thaimongkhon

Around the exterior wall are 16 circular doors into cubicle where various shrines are located.

Concealed in small ceramic and glass vases are bone fragments of monks, placed at the lower center pillar which is the main center pillar that holds the entire circular stainless steel tubing of the 2 storey pagoda.

The upper level is equally magnificent looking too with plenty of wishing bowls/coil bowls.

Temple #3 ~ Four Faces Buddha Shrine (San Phra Phrom)

Located on a hill at Hatyai Municipal Park. A lot of people go to the shrine to pray and have their wishes answered by the Hindu god, Brahman.

A lot of miniatures elephants of various sizes donated by devotees are placed around the temple.

A firecracker housing located on hilltop for devotees to light firecrackers for good luck. My first time saw/knew about this.

Temple #4 ~ Standing Buddha Temple

Located in Hatyai Municipal Park overlooking Hatyai city.

The 19.9m weighing 200 tons Buddha statue was built on the occasion of H.M King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Cycle Birthday Celebration at 1999. There is stairs connected to the Guan Yin Temple at the middle of the hill.

 

Temple #5 ~Bodhisattva Guan Yin Temple

Located  top of a hill at Hat Yai Municipal Park.

Uncountable Guan Yin mini statues in the main chamber together with Eight Immortals’s statues & other Dieties.
