Jamaica Blue @ The Robertson, K.L
Australia is known for many things but one thing that my hubby absolutely love is how they lifted coffee to another level. At Malaysia, we are fortunate we have a lot of influx of Australian cafes.
Jamaica Blue Coffee is one of my hubby’s favourite cafes when he feels like to splurge a little bit for a good cup of coffee, Blue Mountain to be precise.
A couple of weeks ago, we had a meetup with friends at Jamaica Blue at The Robertson, Kuala Lumpur for brunch.
Located directly opposite Tung SHin Hospital at Jalan Pudu, this outlet definitely a feel-good cafe that aglow with natural sunshine. The cafe has a very comfortable atmosphere partnered with soothing earthy tone theme, framed by pleasant seating.
Display cabinet near entrance filled with assorted of delectable looking cakes and pastries.
The outdoor seating overlooking the busy Jalan Pudu.

At Jamaica Blue, patrons can choose coffee either with Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee bean or their Signature Blend.

Warm Forest Mushroom, Feta & Spinach Bowl (RM18.80)
Don’t misled by its “not-so-appealing” appearance, the flavour outshone the look by miles! Healthy food is doomed to taste less flavorful, smell less appetizing, and look a little sadder on the plate but I tell you, I can have this everyday! (ok lah, a bit exaggerated, but at least three times a week, really┗(`・ω・´)┛) If you want food that is kind to your waistline, but also taste good on your spoon, this unquestionably your ideal option!
Recommended by the staff, this healthy bowl comprised of quinoa & almond porridge, mushrooms, chickpeas, spinach, Dukkah and topped with a beautifully cooked poached egg. It carried big, bold flavors as well as multitude of texture from the variety of ingredients and spices. The quinoa porridge was perfectly prepared to a nice soft chewy texture, further moistened by the poached egg. I like how the Dukkah brilliantly flavoured the dish without overpowering the overall taste. (♥ω♥*)
Turkish Spiced Poached Eggs (RM16.90)
Two poached eggs and blanched spinach sit on a pool of herbs yogurt and pesto, served along with sourdough toasts. As per the description on the menu, Dukkah and chili butter are added, hence the flavour was quite complex. A spoonful of everything, I could taste the sourness from the yogurt, astringent flavour from the spinach, pleasant herbaceous flavour of the pesto and Dukkah as well as the creaminess of the poached egg. No faults on this but simply not to my preferential taste.
Pasta Boscaiola (RM22.50)
This oh-so-divine pasta in garlic cream sauce was totally knocked my socks off with its luscious cheesy flavours! The delightful earthiness accentuated from the mushrooms and the mellow of smokiness from the turkey slices elevated the dish to new height in flavour.
Three Cheese Macaroni (RM21.40)
Sam had her favourite macaroni and cheese, Jamaica Blue’s rendition absolutely hit the spot. Cooked with Mozzarella, Cheddar, Parmesan and turkey slices, the pasta was lavishly laced with cheesy goodness and Sam especially love the crusty baked cheese layer.
I spotted a few specially crafted dishes for kids included Grilled Nutella and Banana Sandwich, Egg on Toast, Turkey Slice, Cheese and Tomato Sandwich and Penne Napolitana.
Classic Steak Sandwich (RM26.90)
The big ensemble of grilled Scotch fillet, beef strips, sliced tomato, rocket leaves, caramelized onion, gherkins, and a spread of aioli, in ciabatta bun. It’s certainly a good filling portion with a side of salad tossed in vinaigrette dressing however the Scotch fillet was a tad too over-cooked for my liking.
Sticky Date Pudding (RM14.00)
This dessert may look uninteresting but the flavour was totally opposite! The sticky date pudding was served warm drenched with Butterscotch sauce and a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.
I never a fan of any date desserts and I had never eaten sticky date pudding before, but I immediately fell in love with it upon my first spoonful. What’s not to like in a spongy, airy, date pudding smothered in a thick and luscious butterscotch sauce? Oh la la, I’m on cloud nine when savouring this, and it’s an indulgence that worthy of every calories it packs! (⺣◡⺣)♡*
Verdict: Jamaica Blue’s selection of coffees unquestionably can satisfy any coffee lovers but as a non coffee drinker, I’m happy with their extensive list of food as well. From breakfast (both savory and sweet), assorted hot meals (pasta, sandwiches, rolls and burgers) to dessert (scones, muffins and cakes), the choices are sufficient to please everyone.

The food looks not bad. Seremban has one outlet, I have not visit lagi pun. hahah….
Mel, I tlike this outlet, it’s bright (during day time) which is good for photography, & spacious and comfortable.
From the name, I thought they’d be serving Jamaican food here but I see predominantly western food…hehe! 😉 I love wilted spinach with poached eggs. I wouldn’t mind that abundantly filled steak sandwich either.
Kris, I don’t mind that steak sandwich as well, haha!
The food looks very appealing. I definitely welcome healthy food but it must taste good or else it would be torture to eat. The decor at this place is lovely and I love the name Jamaica Blue.
PH, must try that quinoa porridge, really good!
I wish we have the Australian late autumn temperature to go with this!
KY, you know what, I’m going to experience Australian late Autumn temperature in some Australian cafes soon 😛
