Jibby & Co @ Empire Shopping Gallery

Located outside of Empire Shopping Gallery in Subang Jaya, Jibby & Co’s glasshouse structure unequivocally attract the attention of passers-by. This standalone two-storey cafe not only comes with impressive architectural on the exterior, but the interior also brimming with character which a lot of thought has obviously gone into it.

Benefited from the ceiling-to-floor glass panels, the whole space is sufficiently basked with sunlight. Wooden furniture and flooring, exposed metal pipelines, hanging lighting, metal staircase and a tall potted plant awkwardly placed in the middle of the dining area, all combined together making Jibby & Co as one of those cafes where taking pictures should be compulsory for all visitors.

We were ushered to upper floor, a L shape dining area decorated with plenty of potted plants and hanging light bulbs.

Model of the day 😛

The al-fresco dining section with Middle Eastern-inspired tiles added vibrancy to the place. The climbing plants “wall” perfect to give the much needed shade from the scorching weather.

Flat White (RM11.00)

Jibby & Co has a pretty extensive menu comprises breakfast/brunch available from 8.30am to 4.00pm, light bites, salads, mains, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, Asian rice and noodles dishes, pizzas and desserts.

The Hangover (RM29.00)

One of the popular choices from the breakfast selection, The Hangover featuring two sunny side up sit on a stock of fries, chicken sausage and beef bacon, dressed with onion jam and melted American cheese. Every elements were nicely executed, sunny side up with runny egg yolk, juicy and well seasoned house made chicken sausages, the beef bacon was not overly salty (like THIS one) and both onion jam and melted cheese good to provide more moist to the overall dish. The fries were the only item I didn’t fancy in my plate, it was soggy and oily.

Mr & Mrs (RM29.00)

Also from the breakfast section, Mr & Mrs comprised two poached eggs with chili hash, chicken sausage, baby spinach, onion and dukkah Hollandaise. The portion, a little too scarce for the price charged. The flavour, nothing really to pin point but nothing to praise either. The description on the menu mentions about dukkah but since I never try any dukkah, so I’m not sure the actual taste of it.

Meatball Pasta (RM30.00)

Coated with thick tomato sauce laced with basil, the pasta was served along with meat balls, beef bacon and brioche croutons. Sam had no complaint about the pasta and she enjoyed the crunchy beef bacon. The meat balls had a compact texture, not particularly pronounced in flavour which was easily forgettable.

Verdict: I had quite a high expectation on this place but the food we tried were just alright and nothing really worth mentioning. The price certainly on higher side and the portion delivered couldn’t justify the price charged but the environment was great nonetheless.
