Kedai Makanan Kim Poh @ Segambut
I have been searching high and low for a good claypot chicken rice at my neighbourhood and was found a rather great one but it was closed down after my maiden visit #howsad ~>_<~
Recently I’ve read from KY’s blog on his visit to Kedai Makanan Kim Poh for claypot chicken rice and I was immediately enthralled by the dark mahogany hued rice and of course the steamed soup too! With the most efficient speed, I’ve paid this place a visit last Saturday for lunch 😛
What greeted us once we reached at Kedai Makanan Kim Poh was a few charcoal stoves, testament of a good claypot chicken rice I’m going to have? Continue reading please~~~
The food preparation counter and the cooking station at the facade, manned by a middle aged man which I believe is the boss of the restaurant.
No frills kopitiam setting, slightly worn down but luckily the environment was bright and airy.
Our order of claypot chicken rice for 2 pax arrived pipping hot in jiffy with salted fish and julienned ginger served separately in a saucer.
Topped with chicken pieces, Chinese sausages (lap cheong) and doused with house special special soy sauce. The rice had a discernible smoky aroma, mixed up all the ingredients included the ginger and salted fish, you will be rewarded with a pot of heavenly pleasure. The flavors was good and the chicken was tender enough but I wish there was more sauce and chicken given for our pot of rice.
Duck Meat & Salted Vegetable Soup
There are a few choices of soup and I opted for this duck meat & salted vegetable soup which definitely got off on the right foot! The soup was fabulously flavorful with a warming peppery end note. I enjoyed it till the last drop included polished off all the duck meat and salted vegetables!
Blanched Lettuce with Oyster Sauce
The Vitamin C requirement 😛
2 pax portion was too small to be shared among us (2 adults + a kid), so we had another 1 pax portion of claypot chicken rice which was had more sufficient sauce rendering a more flavorful rice mixture.
Total bill was RM 38.00 with 2 claypots chicken rice (2 pax & 1 pax portion), 1 steamed soup, 1 vegetable and 2 iced barley drink.
Verdict: The chicken rice served was above average in my books and definitely don’t mind to revisit.
