Knowhere Bangsar @ Bangsar
For us Asians, the rich aroma of coffee is what mornings smell like, whereas, a glass of wine (preferably fruity & sparkling) is a sign of a very good evening about to take place.
However, increasingly, at our shore, we do see that brunch is being complemented with Prosecco rather than an Arabica.
Fun fact; did you know that there’s a myth that European at Middle Ages drank primarily beer & wine because water wasn’t generally safe to drink? Whatever the truth is; I think Europeans at that time would like to start their day with a “cheeky smile”. I believe that’s also my reason in drinking good glasses of wine at Knowhere Bangsar to start my weekend with a big smile.
Located along Jalan Maarof, Bangsar (facing the main road), Knowhere Bangsar is a gastrobar which offers pork free fusion cuisine with Asian twist. The menu is a party box of choices with extensive selection of tapas, sharing platters, soups, pastas, pizzas, burgers and mains.
I was immediately riveted to the mythical keyhole mural on one side of the wall as well as the fairy lights hanging from the ceiling that creating a whimsical vibe to the space. Dressed in dark theme, one can either choose to be seated at on the normal dining tables and chairs, high chairs or even at the bar counter to get some cocktails mixing actions.
The Knowhere Bangsar’s impressive alcohols and wines collection.
The drinks menu showcasing an extensive list of cocktails (some with playful elements of local ingredients such as jackfruit and Pandan), mocktails, Whisky, Gins, wines, beers and general drinks.,
Outdoor seating is available too.
Knowhere Bangsar has just launched their new brunch menu featuring the usual big breakfast, local delights (Nasi Ulam & Mutton Curry), pastas, burgers, mains (smoked duck breast, striploin steak & deep sea bass) and light bites (fried chicken wings and grilled calamari). Nasi Ulam Ayam Bakar (RM32.80)
Highly recommended by the waiter and it was indeed deserved the merit.
Pretty on a platter, the blue tinged rice had a nice balance of herbs and ingredients served with succulent piece of a whole chicken leg that was so tender and tasty with its marinade of spices and herbs. The flavour of the chicken was piquant and full of yummy spice notes, served with unctuous nutty spiced Percik sauce. Definitely a perfectly executed dish that worth recommending!
Bougie Brunch (RM32.80)
Hubby had his usual order of big breakfast platter which comprised of chicken sausage, smoked beef bacon, hash brown, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, egg of your choice (scrambled, omelet and sunny side up), toast and sliced tomato.
It was a hearty and satisfying portion with everything nicely prepared, certainly a pure comfort food!
Eggtastic Salmon Hash (RM42.80)
Sam opted to have her favourite Salmon dish accompanied by smoked beef bacon, hash brown and toast topped with perfectly done poached egg and arugula. It was a thick piece of Atlantic Salmon with scrumptious crispy skin however the flesh was slightly overcooked rendering a rather dry texture.
Verdict: Brunch is a wonderful affair and even more so when you get to have a glass of vino with your favourite comfort meal. The food we tried was above average, service wise, our class of wine was refilled regularly throughout our brunch.
