Kong Kee Home Made Fish Ball @ Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong
It’s certainly a surprise when I got to know this restaurant from her blog because as a Kepong resident, I pass by this area quite frequent but I never notice its existence! (or maybe I’ve been attracted to other options available here?)
Getting parking at this area could be a pain in the neck because there is a morning market here but shouldn’t be a problem if you’re willing to walk a few steps.
Simple setting with air-conditioners to ensure the comfort for the diners.
As per the name suggested, this place offers noodles with their signature home made fish balls (made from Giant Grouper aka Long Dan龙趸), Yong Tau Foo, dumplings and Xiao Long Bao.
Fish Ball Noodles

A decent bowl of noodles with generous ingredients of fish balls, fish cakes, bean curd sheet, seaweed, bean sprouts and lettuce. The fish balls were spot on, fresh with pleasant bouncy texture.
Xiao Long Bao (RM12.00)
Definitely a value for money option with 5 pieces of Xiao Long Bao per basket. Although the skin was not translucent thin (not too thick either) but the noteworthy lies in the filling. Both the minced meat patty and broth were generous and well seasoned.
Dumpling (RM12.00)
Those dumplings were so pretty to look at and the colourful skin was made from natural ingredients such as spinach, pumpkin, yam and beetroot.
Dumpling with different colours were stuffed with different fillings included minced pork with corn, cabbage, chives, long beans and spring onion. The filling was dense and firm with toothsome bite. The skin was a bit thick and doughy, I like this texture but perhaps not for some though. Both Xiao Long Bao and dumplings are served with vinegar and julliened ginger.
Verdict: An unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant that worth a go. My recommendation would be the Xiao Long Bao, 5 colours dumplings and the fish balls.

I am not a fan of fishballs but I do eat them. And when I do eat, I find that I enjoy then especially that firm bouncy texture. It’s nice that they also sell other items too.
PH, I used to prefer pork balls but my taste bud has changed for the past few years, now I prefer fish balls~

Oh, I do love a good fish ball noodles. Do they offer a kon lo version here? You know-lah, my non-soupy family members! How does the XLB compare to DTF’s?
Kris, I think they offer dry noodles too. Hmm…. the skin definitely thicker and not as refine as DTF version, but the flavours and amount of filling are decent for the price charged.
