Korean Barbeque House @ PV128, Setapak
As the old saying goes, you wait ages for a bus then two come along at once (or more!). Is this true enough?
From a foodie point of view, I agreed with it as I’ve been waiting for a long time for a good value for $ Korean buffets and two came along in consecutive weeks. (Read about my previous Korean buffet HERE)
Currently has 2 outlets, PV128, Setapak and The Strand, Kota Damansara, we paid a visit to Korean Barbeque House at Setapak a few weeks ago.
The location is a bit tricky if you are not familiar with the layout of this building. Korean Barbeque House occupied a corner lot on first floor at PV128 with both indoor and al-fresco seating. No proper ventilation system was in sight but fret not because the meat grilling was done in the kitchen.
We were here for their All-You-Can-Eat promotion which comes with 2 choices, Normal Pack & Full Pack. The dish variety isn’t exceptionally extensive but for the price charged, I think it’s still a worthy deal. Please be reminded that there is time limited of one hour 30 minutes per session.
Self-service refillable banchan and fresh lettuce.
Complimentary corn tea
Barbequed Pork Belly and Boneless Chicken Thigh
As I’ve mentioned earlier, the meat is grilled by the staff in the kitchen then served to our table. Pork belly was in its original flavor without any marinade, the thin meat slices were nicely grilled, perfectly charred on the outer and some came with crunchy texture. While the chicken thigh with minimal seasoning was equally scrumptious with pleasant smoky flavor.
Kimchi Shabu Shabu
Included in the Full Pack, we also had this Kimchi Shabu Shabu laden with cabbage, onion, carrot, bean curd and rice cakes. The broth was quite watery and mild in flavour, we added in a few spoons of kimchi to further enhance the taste. Fresh thinly sliced pork belly, Ramyeon and Udon are provided to complete the meal.
Kimchi Pancake
I like their pancake, thin, soft and packed generously with kimchi.
Stone Pot Steamed Egg
The steamed egg is another good stuff! Slightly wet on the top part resembled egg custard and the overall texture was tender. But make sure you savour this fast as the stone pot will further cook the egg.
Pass these wooden tags to the waiter if you need any dishes to be refilled.
Complimentary ice cream after the meal.
Verdict: To be honest, the choices are quite limited but considering the price is very affordable for a rather wholesome Korean meal. You know what, I went to their Kota Damansara branch with my family 2 weeks after my meal here, hehe 😛 But If you not fond of All-You-Can-Eat, they still serve ala-carte menu with very reasonable price as well.
Korean Barbeque House
Have you been eating a lot of Korean food lately?
Yawor, but I’m not complaining 😛
At first I thought….what, 1 1/2 hours? Then I read the meat is already grilled for you…lagi best! 😉
Nowadays those Korean buffet normally are with time limit.
Good pricing le!
I love Korean food. Hope Seremban can come up with something like this.
Indeed good pricing because there are a lot of students in that area, TAR University College is there.
This is a generous spread with such a reasonable price!
The variety is not very extensive but for the price paid, I would say I’m happy with it 🙂
haven’t seen self serving banchan before, this is a first for me 😀
I prefer self service banchan refill as we no need to wait for the servers when they are busy 😛
i’d be happy since the thigh is my favourite part of the chicken 🙂
I’m happy they use chicken thigh rather than other parts because it is tenderer meat part.
