LAVO @ Menara Lien Hoe, Persiaran Tropicana, Petaling Jaya

We were at LAVO last Sunday together with Merryn and her family for the Christmas colouring contest. Photo courtesy from Merryn.

Being my first visit I was fascinated by the impressive wine collection at LAVO. Rows of shelves filled with bottles of wine from all over the world being displayed in their wine gallery.

LAVO, a restaurant lounge and wine bar located at Menara Lien Hoe along Persiaran Tropicana, Petaling Jaya. This place certainly has the feel of spaciousness with a few dining areas to choose from. The main dining hall in modern setting furnished with sleek furniture and completed with a stylish curvy bar counter filled startling array of wine and liquors. This area receives great illumination of natural light from the glass window.  One can also have a laid-back time and unwind at the wine deck.

The equally spacious semi al-fresco terrace definitely a good option too as it is equipped with ample of ceiling fans and portable standing fans.

The colouring competition had two categorizes both were give an hour to finish their art work. The kids can choose to do their colouring in the special colouring area on the floor or with their parents at the dining table.

Although Sam didn’t win the contest but it was indeed a special experience for her.

The appearance of the Santa Claus definitely one of the highlight of that day. He distributed some small gifts to the kids and his pretty Santarina also going around giving treats to the children. How can we miss the opportunity to take photo with them!

There was also a game session for the kids and Sam and her team won second prize for one of the game.

We had our lunch here and in conjunction with the coming festive seasons, there is a specially crafted Christmas menu.

Salted Egg Yolk Turkey Bites (RM15.00)

When salted egg yolk meets Christmas-y turkey, they totally go perfectly hand in hand. The bite-size turkey was deep fried then coated with luscious salted egg yolk, the texture was not dry or coarse like I would expected to be. A great beer or wine snack I reckon. 😛

Turkey Hawaiian Pizza (RM26.00)

Turkey meats was used instead of chicken for our familiar pizza taste, completed with the usual condiments of diced pineapple, tomato and melted cheese. I like the generous drizzles of BBQ sauce for that extra smoky flavor. The other two options in the Christmas menu are Turkey Kung Pou aglio Olio (RM26.00) and Turkey Rendang with Wik-Fried Imperial Noodles (RM20.00). The festive menu is only available until 31 December 2017.

Santa’s Little Helper (RM38.00++)

We also had the special Christmas drink of spiced rum and bitter orange liqueur combined with homemade clove and cardamon chai syrup. It was surprisingly not too overwhelming with liquor flavor and I found myself rather enjoyed it.

Apart from the Christmas menu, we also sample some dishes from the regular menu which have a mishmash of Western and Asian delights.

Fresh Juice (RM10.00) & Lavo Fruit Punch (RM13.00)

Latte & Hot Chocolate

Premium A9 Rib Eye Steak 220g (RM50.00)

I was in the mood for steak that day so I got myself this Rib Eye Steak cooked to my prefer medium done-ness and it was well executed to my request. Sitting on bed of mashed potato and accompanied by grilled tomatoes and sauteed broccoli, the steak was adequately tender with right amount of luscious fatty bits. The steak also served along with your choice of sauce (port wine sauce, peppercorn sauce, mushroom sauce or garlic sauce)

Lavo’s Signature Premium Lanz Finest Lamb Rack 240g (RM50.00)

Another grilled item we had was this lamb rack which was also cooked to a medium done-ness with beautiful pinkish center.

Baked Salmon (RM30.00)

If the usual pan fried Salmon not attractive enough for you, try this out. Oven-baked to a golden perfection, the salmon fillet wrapped in buttery puff pastry was served with a side of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes.

Linguine Al Cortoccio (RM28.00)

Served in a aluminum foil parcel, the linguine was generously bathed in appetizing and vibrant tomato sauce. There were abundance of seafood such as scallop, prawns, mussels, fish and clams which adding a pleasurable ocean note to the dish.

Check out their ‘Kids Eat For Free’ promotion on weekends from 12pm to 6pm with purchase of adult main meals.

Verdict: Great environment, friendly service and reasonably priced food, drop by if you have chance. I’m eyeing on those wine selections and who’s on for a wine session with me?

  • What a fun event for the kids and families. Whenever bloggers met up, there is so much in common to talk & joke about.

  • Whoa, that’s an impressive and wide collection of wines! O_o You didn’t have any? 🙁 I’m beginning to appreciate wines too….well, at least some…hehe! 😉 I spot some very plump prawns in the linguine in foil. Salted egg yolk turkey? That’s a first…kekeke! ;D
