Marta’s Kitchen @ Desa Sri Hartamas
It is a fact that some of the great things are discovered through accidental coincidence. Penicillin, Viagra, Play-doh are just some of the discoveries that have changed the perspective of the world.
In the same spirit above, I have discovered one of the best paella experience at Martha’s Kitchen through an accidental coincidence. The place that we wanted to patronize has closed down permanently and coincidentally Marta’s Kitchen is just at the same vicinity. Admittedly, Marta’s Kitchen is already an established Spanish cuisine eatery at Klang Valley but it just was not on our radar.
A charming mural greeted us once we stepped into the restaurant.
Located at The Signature, a serviced-suites building, Marta’s Kitchen has a glass facade all around which allows the whole space basking in sunlight. The white themed restaurant integrates cheerful details and lively vibe in its ambience, from the colourful pom-pom, the lattice decoration panels to the big glass wall arts. The expansive interior is brilliantly section into a few dining ares. One can sit near the open kitchen to catch a glimpse of the chefs cooking the big pans of paella or get the sun-bathed window seats.
The outdoor seating overlooking the lush greenery and a mini fountain.
Long Black (RM9.00)
The extensive beverage menu are sufficient to please everyone with choices of homemade Sangria, beers, cocktails, mocktails, mojitos, liquors, smoothies, juices, coffees and teas.
Manned by Marta, the restaurant owner from Salamanca, Spain, Marta’s Kitchen proffers a gourmet menu of authentic servings of Tapas and Paellas, as well as variety of pastas, platters and desserts.
Champiñones Al Ajillo (RM19.00)
A tapa is an appetizer or snack in Spanish cuisine and translates to small portion of any kind of Spanish cuisine. Tapas are known for being exceptionally flavorful and are served with alcoholic beverages. We had hard time to decide what to have from their long list of Tapas in the menu, and we finally settled with this pan fried mushrooms seasoned with garlic and lemon.
The big button mushrooms were utterly soft and juicy, richly flavoured with the garlic and herbs infused oil and sauce concoction. The served along bread was excellent for There was a lot of leftover juices after the mushrooms have been cooked and the bread is excellent for sopping it up the sauce and enjoying that extra flavor for just a little while longer.
Other Tapas option included Hummus Con Tempura De Berenjena (aubergine tempura with hummus), Tortilla De Patatas (Spanish Omelet), Escalibada (roasted pepper, eggplant and onion in Balsamico vinegar), Brochetas De Cordero (lamb kebab), Gambas A La Plancha (grilled prawns with olive oil, garlic and lemon), Pulpo A La Gallega (Galician style octopus), and many more.
Pulled Iberico Pork Burger (RM24.00)
Being listed in a separate menu of Marta’s Food Specials, these mini burger served tapas style with pulled Iberico pork were scrumptious. Sandwiched between the soft brioche bun, the pulled pork was tender and fully absorbed the delicious flavour of the gravy.
Valenciana Paella (RM37.00)
The Paella was perfectly executed and the flavours was really hit the spot, thanks to the expertly cooked to al-dente texture rice which capturing the flavour of the delightful seafood stock and those seafood and chicken pieces hidden within. Crowned with a big prawn and a mussel, the rice with bold flavour of the seafood hitting pleasurable note for flavours and texture.
Others Paella are Iberico Pork Paella and Squid Ink Paella.
Tomato & Cheese Pasta (RM21.00)
Sam had her usual order of pasta with tomato sauce. Marth’s Kitchen version was memorably toothsome, luscious, creamy and cheesy.
Churros with Chocolate (RM17.00)
Freshly fried with crispy exterior coated with sugar and slightly chewy on the inside. However I found that the Churros was a bit oily for my liking.
♥Verdict: It was an enjoyable Spanish lunch, a very unexpected one indeed. The food definitely good enough to induce repeat visits.

KY, prints or mural, whatever lah, as long as it’s good looking, LOL
Yes, I love this place and the paella is the best I have eaten so far! Next time, try the Iberico ribs.
PH, I ordered that seafood Paella because of your highly recommendation 😛
I need to find my way here one day since both you and PH have nothing but praises for the food 🙂 Looks like the Paella Valenciana is a must then. ^_*
Kris, not very near from your place but definitely worth the journey 🙂
My boys love paella so maybe we will drop by if we are around this area.
Merryn, this place is not very far from you, make a visit and enjoy the food!
