Menya Yamato @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong

Menya Yamato, a neighbourhood Japanese ramen shop that we frequented for quick ramen fix.

Located same row as Public Bank (the other end), FamilyMart & my favourite steamboat restaurant, Menya Yamato is a fuss-free and casual Japanese restaurant that not only offers ramen but also rice dishes, appetizers, as well as variety of Kushiyaki 串焼き(Japanese skewered meat and vegetables ).

Tonkotsu Ramen (RM18.00)

The serving was smaller than the others ramen joint (such as THIS and THIS) but for the price charged, we have no complaint. The ramen came with a few thin slices of Char Siew, Ajitama, julliened wood ear fungus and generous sprinkles of spring onion. The broth was sufficiently thick and creamy, the taste however was paled in comparison with the aforementioned ramen. For those who prefer mild tasting ramen soup, this definitely suit you well. The Ajitama was perfectly executed with runny yolk but would have hoped for a thicker Char Siew. The noodles was nicely springy and well absorbed the flavours of the soup.

Kaisen Yaki Ramen (RM18.00)

Studded with squid, clams and vegetables, the fried ramen was light to the palate but richly infused with the sweetness of the seafood and vegetables. The sprinkles of dried seaweed boost the overall flavour.

Kid’s Set (RM9.00)

A very worthy set which comprised small bowl of ramen (with lesser ingredients) and drink.

Pretty good stuff house made chili sauce, addictively spicy and aromatic.

Verdict: Affordable and comfortable. I would’t say this place is fantastic, but good enough as a full meal that can be enjoyed frequently.
