Nando’s @ Publika
When you crave for fast food chicken, which brand will be the first furnish a snap into your mind? I believe there are quite a numbers of “Grandpa” brand’s fans out there but for myself, I have my all time favourite ~ Nando’s!
Origin from South Africa with Mozambican-Portuguese theme and specializes in grilled chicken dishes, there are more than 1000 outlets in 30 countries. In Malaysia, we have more that 50 restaurants all over the country and the outlet I frequented the most is the one located in Publika.
The restaurant is spacious, dimly lit with air-conditioner blasting in full speed. There are a few seating available such as comfortable sofa seat, long wooden communal tables and simple wooden tables and chairs. Despite being a fast food chain, each one of their restaurants has its own special design but share the same earthy textures and colours that remind us of the sunny Afro-Portuguese roots and many feature original South African art and unique design touches.
The Peri-Peri Story mural.
There are plenty of African ethnic decoration items being displayed in the restaurant partnered with exposed bricks and wooden planks walls.
Look at the special designed basin!
The peri-peri sauce in assorted flavors; Wild Herb, Garlic, Hot Peri-Peri & Extra Hot Peri-Peri, which is your choice? My pick always the Garlic Peri-Peri!
Citrus Bliss (RM 8.90++)
A refreshing concoction of mint syrup, grapefruit juice and Sprite.
1/4 Chicken with 2 Sides or 1 Fino Side (RM 18.90++ )
Our regular choices for sides would be chips or potato wedges as it has a really toothsome bite, slightly crispy outer with soft inner. When we need a more substantial meal, the Mediterranean rice certainly not a bad choice as it is flavorful on its own with diced carrots and green peas.
That is Three Bean Salad (Fino Side) in the photo, a tangy treat of beans with mixed peppers, celery, corn and just a hint of Peri-Peri, very healthy option indeed.
The main star in the platter definitely the grilled chicken! The butterfly-cut chicken is marinated in Nando’s signature Peri-Peri sauce for at least 24 hours and flame-grilled to order. The smoky charred skin is well-flavoured and basted with choice of Lemon & Herb, Mild, Hot, or Extra Hot Peri-Peri sauce. The meat is adequately moist too.
Kids’ Meal (RM 15.90++)
The Little Grow-Ups’meals include one mains (Chicken Drumsticks, Chicken Breast Burger or Chicken Breast Strips), a choice of either fruits or vegetables and either a soft drink or orange juice. For the side, choose from chips, grilled corn, potato wedges or Mediterranean rice.
Two sizable drumsticks together with the side which can easily feed a small eater adult.
The fresh fruits bowl.
Orange juice
Cappuccino (RM 8.90++)
The coffee here is not memorable though.
Chocolate Mud Pie with Ice Cream (RM 12.90++)
A warm chocolate mud pie with a molten chocolate centre, topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice-cream. Rich and sinfully delicious dessert!
Verdict: Whenever the craving for chicken attack, this is the place I’ll recommend Nando’s instead of the fried chicken joint. Healthier cooking method unquestionably the main factor, also in consideration is the option of tasty sides which never fail to please me & my family! “Bom Proveito!”

Oh haven’t had nandos for quite some time but their normal set is not filling enough for me 😛
Order the rice and chips, they are generous with the portion of sides, sure can fill you up! ^__*
I have always been a fan of Nandos until today. I used to buy their Flaming Hot sauces home too. Their chicken is always well marinated and yummy to eat. Now I am thinking of having it for my dinner today.
