Nizza @ Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

I won dining vouchers from an Instagram contest which I can spend at Nizza restaurant in Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara.

It very much reminded me about my luxurious stay at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort when mentioned about Sofitel. Being a 5-star luxury hotel, the interior and setting of Nizza is equally alluring and persuasive.

A refined French Riviera-inspired restaurant, Nizza adopts a contemporary and casual-lifestyle setting, with an eminent palette of crisp whites and blue on the flooring and hues of orange evoking the sea and skies that brings comfort and style, as well as exudes cool and calm. In keeping with the theme, lyrics and imageries of Riviera depicted in watercolor finishes across the ceiling.

The ambience of the chic open-air bar deserves an additional clap. Reminiscent of the coastline of Cote d’Azur with parasol-inspired canopies, comfy beach cabanas and low modular seating. Visually, Nizza hits all the right notes, thanks to the captivating interior infused with luxurious attitude.

The menu offers a delectable range of French-Mediterranean cuisine including sufficient choices of Les Entrée, Les Potages, Risotto et pâtes, Nizza specialties of Pissaladière French Pizzas, De la Mer, De la Terra, Mibrasa Grill, Les Desserts and Assiette de fromages.

Our dinner kick started with the complimentary house-baked focaccia along with pesto dipping. Served warm in an earthenware pan, the focaccia with delicious crusty outer and soft, buttery and herbs-infused interior was so awesome that I need to refrain myself from eating too much.

Black Angus Ribeye 300g (RM155.00)

From the list of choices from the Mibrasa Grill such as côte de Boeuf 800g (RM265.00), Striploin 300g (RM135.00), Tenderloin 250g (RM165.00), Australian Rack of Lamb (RM125.00) and Whole Free Range Spring Chicken (RM85.00), we opted for this gorgeous Black Angus Ribeye.

The ribeye was gorgeously well-charred with a nice crust. I ordered medium rare and was very pleased with the result. The crusty bits on the outside of the steak was divine and a bomb of flavours and textures. The tender meat was juicy and sublime. While a side of red wine jus was served, I was pretty much just satisfied with how tasty this ribeye on its own was. If there is one word to sum up this piece of steak, it would have to be DIVINE! The side of roasted garlic and cherry tomatoes on the vine were decent and they were meant to be sidekicks to the nearly perfect steak.

Confit de Canard (RM95.00)

The leg of duck was slowly cooked in its own oil to perfume and flavor it before being crisp up on high heat to render out the fat and crisp up the skin. And that is what duck confit is all about! Here, the duck confit was certainly hit the spot with deep meaty flavor of the duck and astounding crispy skin. Sitting beneath the duck was soft potato gratin, green bean and rich creamy butternut pumpkin puree. The pomegranate dressing and fresh pomegranate did a good job on freshen up and adding the remarkable tangy and fruity flavors to the dish.

Forestiere (RM42.00)

Topped with smoked turkey, mushrooms, hard boiled egg, olive and gruyere, the pizza did not hit us with big surprise (although pizza was listed as Nizza Specialties), it was a pretty average one. I was hoping the pizza came with scorches of crispy edges.

Verdict: Our dining at Nizza was truly a luxuriant and pampered experience. It was everything from food to ambience that made this unforgettable. Definitely a perfect option  when one feels like splurging on some fine dining experience.
