Novotel Melaka @ Jalan Melaka Raya 2, Melaka

The smell of a new car is refreshing (at least to me :P). But the smell of a new hotel is alluring and this statement refer to the hotel I stayed during my recently Melaka trip, Novotel Melaka. Opened on late last year, Novotel Melaka is completely new from the lobby’s sofas to the hotel’s bedroom. Novotel Melaka is a 4-star hotel under the AccorHotels Group, strategically located in heart of Melaka city centre. Major attractions and shops are just a short stroll away from the hotel, this offers the opportunity to enjoy the rich historical and cultural background of the UNESCO world heritage city.

 

We were greeted by this eye-catching tree pillar at the lobby.

 

The lobby was extremely spacious in sleek and contemporary design with plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas.

 

Located near the check in counter, there is a Mac corner and business centre.

 

The kids can have some fun time at the dedicated kid’s corner located at the lobby level. Kid’s/family friendly hotel feature like this always an important consideration for me when choosing hotel.

 

We checked into our Executive Room located at 15th floor after the breeze check in. Tastefully decorated in chic and contemporary theme, our room is good sized equipped with a king sized bed. The bed is plush and comfortable which comes with 2 sets of pillows of various texture. The room is fully carpeted too which is a plus point for me as I hate walking on the freezing tiled or wooden flooring.

The day bed beside the window definitely an ideal spot for day dreaming or enjoy the street view of Melaka city.

 

The see through bathroom definitely great for lovebirds but one can also turn on the  electronic blind if you want privacy.

 

The bathroom was furnished with both rainforest and hand shower. Standard amenities like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairdryer, toothbrush set were provided too. Everything in place was spick and span.

 

42-inch LED TV with limited channels and a work desk with lots of electrical plugs. The complimentary WIFI connection was fast and stable.

 

The wardrobe was completed with indoor slippers and bathrobes.

 

Mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities, complimentary drinking water as well as in-room safe.

Novotel Melaka offers 351 well-appointed rooms boasts magnificent views of The Straits of Melaka and the city. The rooms are categorized into Superior Room, Executive Room, Executive Premier Room and The Suite.

The Suit

The interior of the room is almost the same with our Executive Room but more spacious featuring an additional living room and a special electric frosted glass control bathroom with a luxurious bathtub.

 

Premier Lounge

Guests stay at Executive Premier Room are allows to access to the cheerfully designed Premier Lounge. Integrates colours and lively vibes in their set up, guests can enjoy their breakfast buffet, all-day refreshments as well as evening cocktails overlooking the city view.

 

The swimming pool area is huge, divided into an adult pool, kid’s wading pool and a mini playground. Dipping in the cooling pool definitely the biggest enjoyment under the recent scorching weather! There are many deckchairs provided at the pool side too, best for people like me who to just laze there and enjoy precious leisure moments with the family.

 

Located next to the swimming pool is a well equipped gym and sauna room.

 

Novotel Melaka also features a 500m² pillar-less ballroom which can accommodate up to 480 persons and can be extended by another 180 m².

 

Meeting rooms on Level 5 and a business centre for business guests, all equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment. The spacious foyer outside the function rooms is also ideal for exhibitions.

 

There is also an open air private deck located on the highest level of the hotel for guests who prefer to take their functions outdoor. This space can host up to 100 persons, overlooking the gorgeous city view. 

 

Verdict: There are ample of parking lots in the hotel building as well as eateries, convenient shops and massage service nearby. With its convenient location and the family friendly facilities, it’s certainly not a surprise if I choose Novotel Melaka again for my next visit!
