Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur @ Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur

On the recently Hari Raya holidays, my family and I took a short staycation to check out Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur. We checked in late Friday after work hours and the traffic was rather smooth which really set the right mood for our weekend getaway.

Located on a quieter side of Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur had just underwent a major facelift recently and opened for business on 31st October 2016.

Oakwood Worldwide® is the premier provider of corporate housing and serviced apartment with a presence in all 50 United States and more than 85 countries. Oakwood Asia Pacific operates an award-winning portfolio of 34 Oakwood branded properties in 20 cities across Asia. All those properties are operated under five brands: Oakwood Premier, Oakwood Apartments, Oakwood Residence, Oakwood Studios and Oakwood Suites,  each representing distinct levels of service, design and concept to cater to different lifestyles and needs of guests and residents.

Fall under Oakwood Residence, Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur boasts of 251 units which categorized into Deluxe Room (30sqm), One Bedroom Deluxe Apartments (53sqm), One Bedroom Premier Apartments (53sqm) and Two Bedroom Apartment (82sqm) that combine the spacious comfort of a private home with the many services of a hotel.

The hotel lobby is spacious with gorgeous high ceiling, adopted a simple and minimal  theme with sofas for the guests.

The check-in process was swift and pleasure check in and soon we headed to our One Bedroom Deluxe Apartment on 11th floor. Features a living room with attached kitchenette and a separate bedroom, the clever use of white theme paired with soothing natural tones and mood lighting transforms the room environment into one that’s modern yet homey. (I hope that my home can be as cozy as this =.=”)

The living area is furnished with comfortable sofas, wide screen LCD TV with cable channels and DVD Player. The room’s earthy and warm tones exude a coziness that welcomed us warmly that evening.

The kitchenette is completed with dining tables and chairs as well as essential kitchen appliances such as microwave oven, rice cooker, toaster, mini bar, plates, bowls and cutlery.

Complimentary drinking water and also coffee and tea making facilities.

Proceed to the bedroom, I like the warm neutrals of the theme colors and the artwork depicting Malaysian scenes add liveliness to the atmosphere. There is a similar artwork at the living room as well.

The king bed was plush and utterly comfortable with large fluffy pillows, premium sheets and duvet. The room offers pleasurable comfort in space and style, fitted with wooden flooring and partially carpeted. Each side of the bed had fitted table and personal retractable lights for night reading as well as light switches for easy access. There were there usual phone and alarm clock by the bed.

The ample wardrobe area ~ There were fluffy bathrobes, indoor slippers, iron and ironing board, mini safe and laundry services bag.

Full length mirror is

Usual amenities such as LED flat screen television, complimentary high speed WIFI internet access and a work desk with all the usual trimmings are included in the room. The view from our room is the sight of the street as well as Kl’s skyscrapers. My one minor gripe was the noise from the street slightly affected my rest, perhaps I’m a light sleeper.

The bathroom was also spacious and well designed to equip a bath tub, glass shower room fitted with rainforest shower as well as the usual hand shower head.

Full range of designer brand (Peter Morrissey) toiletries are provided as well as the hair dryer.

Complimentary newspaper delivered to our door every morning.

Of course one thing that cannot miss for any family staycation is to check out the hotel’s swimming pool.

Oakwwod Hotel’s swimming pool is fairly large with pool loungers and colourful bean bags placed at the side. Located same floor with TrEat Restaurant & Bar on lobby level, I like the view here overlooking the big and tall shady trees by the street.

Besides the regular pool, there is a kid’s pool too for little ones.

The fitness center located right beside the pool as is surprisingly very spacious and fully equipped with gym equipment.

Daily breakfast buffet is served at TrEat Restaurant & Bar, hotel’s all day dining restaurant. The spread was pretty standard filled with both local and international delights such as Roti Cabai with curries, fried rice/noodles, sausages, hash browns, baked beans, porridge with condiments, assorted buns and pastries, salad, cold cuts, fruits, coffee, tea and juices.

Complementing facilities include secured car park, meeting rooms and laundry room.

Verdict: Oakwood Hotel and Residence Kuala Lumpur definitely offers simplicity and modern comforts that is definitely good value. Located strategically at Jalan Ampang with a short walk distance to the world-famous Petronas Twin Towers and a mere 10-minute drive to MaTIC, Kuala Lumpur’s one-stop Tourist Information Centre and also approximately 45 minutes drive to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Despite being located in the heart of the city, its unique location allows guest to enjoy the serenity away from the hustle bustle yet can get the convenience of being stay in the city. Visit the nearby malls, eat at the neighbourhood restaurants and explore a new part of the city, and return home feeling well-rested and rejuvenated.
