Yen Can Cook: Korean Beef Radish Soup (Soegogi Muguk)
What’s better than come home to a warming bowlful of homemade soup on a raining evening? But it is a challenge for working woman like myself of juggling hectic work schedules and family dinners. So easy and quick recipe like this one that I’m going to share definitely a rescuer!
Ingredients (serves 2-3)
200g beef, cut into bite size pieces
250g white radish, skin peeled and cut into cubes
3 scallions, cut into 3 inch length (can substitute with leek)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
A pinch of black pepper
salt to taste
7 cups water
Marinade
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
A pinch of pepper
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Marinate the beef pieces with the marinade for 30 minutes.
Step 2: In a medium pot, sauté the beef until all the pieces turn brown. Pour in 7 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Skim off the foam
Step 3: Add in white radish cubes and reduce the heat to medium. Boil until the radish turns translucent and soft.
Step 4: Add in scallions, soy sauce and black pepper, boil for another 5 minutes.
Step 5: Salt to taste and serve.
Verdict: Food is an important part of our life and coming home to a table of wonderful dishes cooked by mom/wife is what the family looks forward to. However, how does the lady juggle the home, kids and deadlines at the work place?
A little planning is the secret to being a superwoman. For example plan your menu for each day in advance. I do my grocery shopping every Sunday and get all the meats, vegetables, fruits and other ingredients that I’ve plan to cook for the whole week. If your hectic schedule not allow you to do shopping at the store, online purchase and delivery service like Blue Cow Butcher certainly can give you a helping hand.
The best way to manage both the home and the cooking delights is by being a smart cook and then you are sure to win the “Superwoman” title with ease.
I’d pan fry those beef and enjoy with red wine!
Whoah! I like your style!
像我们这些职业妇女要兼顾工作和家庭的,绝对是一大福音!
I wanted to order from them when I first came to know about them through theyumlist. Sent them an email to see if they deliver to my area (or how much they’d charge for delivery if not) but never got a reply from them. That’s a mighty big bag for RM50 worth of goods. May I know how much is the minimum you have to order for free delivery or how much the delivery charge would be if you’re not in their delivery list since you didn’t mention it in your post?
Hi EWEW, there is no delivery charges for order above RM120 or else the charges is RM20. It stated in their website, hehe 😛
Deliver can be arranged 2 days after order completed if within delivery area, if out of delivery areas, you pick up at the store which available daily except Wednesday. You can choose the time to pick up. Hope this can help u 🙂
Thanks for your response. I had to ask as the FAQ in their website was very contradictory. It said free delivery for min. order of RM150 (they may have changed it to RM120 now), otherwise charge will be RM20 but if outside their delivery area, the delivery charge could be anything between RM30 – RM500…scary!!!
RM500 of delivery charges?!! It’s better I drive there can collect, haha!
That’s great! So convenient no need to go to market for fresh meat.
