Pablo Cheesetart @ One Utama Shopping Centre

The Japanese baked cheese tart craze is not over yet as Pablo Cheesetart is the latest to join the party on our shore directly from Japan. Originally from Osaka, there are now more than 20 outlets in Japan. They have since expanded across Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippine and Indonesia and now, the iconic brand is about to touch down in Malaysia, with the first shop at One Utama Shopping Centre.

Start operating today (6 Dec 2016), I can expect there will be perpetual queues in front of the store nestled at Level 2, One Utama Shopping Centre (Old Wing). The brand has gained a massive following not only in Japan itself, but also all over the world.

Set as a takeaway outlet ONLY (no chairs or tables for dine in), patrons will be greeted by cheerful and well trained staffs at the ordering counter.

Most of the space is occupied by the kitchen at the back where all the cheese tarts are freshly baked and pipping hot from the oven.

Pablo Cheese Tart (RM45.90/pc)

Pablo’s star attraction, the Pablo Cheese Tart. It’s quite large, measuring 15 cm in diameter with a gooey cheese core. Encased in flaky pie crust, the cheese filling is creamy, velvety smooth and surprisingly light/mild in cheesy flavor. It has the right balance of sweetness and tartness, and a delicate melting sensation on your tongue. The apricot glaze on top blends well with the cheese mousse and cuts down the sweetness of the whole dessert.

Other flavors available: Matcha with Shiratama & Azuki and Chocolate

FYI, all ingredients used in the making of their cheese tarts are fully imported from Japan. For take-out customers, the cheese cakes will keep for about 6 hours under room temperature, and will stay fresh in your fridge (below 10°C) for up to 2 days.

These are not simply smaller versions of the big tarts, the filling of this mini cheese tart is richer, thicker, and denser. I prefer the mini ones because of the stronger cheese taste as well as the aromatic buttery crust.

Pablo Frute: Classic Cheese Tart (RM15.90)

Made from the same ingredients as the signature cheese tart hence the name. With addition of mango, banana and apple, it is a rich, creamy and potent drink but a little too sweet for my liking.

Flavors available: Matcha with Shiratama, Special Chocolate, Rich Berry & Rich Mango

Verdict: Prices are slightly on the higher side for a dessert but the emphasis is on the quality as the ingredients are fully imported from Japan. If you are fond of all things cheese-flavored, Pablo Cheesetart definitely worth the queuing time 😛
