Pao Xiang Bah Kut Teh @ Klang

There are hundreds of Bah Kut Teh outlets at Klang and they can be found at every nook and corner in the town. One can basically enjoy this delicacy at all times because Bak Kut Teh not only available during day time but some restaurants/stalls even operating from night till morning.

So when we were at Klang to run some errands, Bak Kut Teh surely became our unrivalled option to avoid that head scratching moment to think what’s for lunch >_<

We settled down at Pao Xiang Bah Kut Teh which has several outlets around Klang Valley such as Sunway Pyramid, Pavilion and One Utama Shopping Centre, just to name a few.

The outlet at Taman Berkeley is spacious and airy, with a cheerful yellow wall.

The al-fresco dining area is rather huge too.

Rice was slightly flavoured, went well with the Bak Kut Teh soup 🙂

We had pork ribs since we are not fan of fat meat or innard. Served with a porcelain bowl with burner underneath, the soup can keep warm throughout our meal. The portion of meat was generous but came with quite a minimal amount of soup. The pork ribs were adequately tender, well infused herbal note. The soup was the typical “Klang style” which is darker and thick in consistency. Albeit the concentrated broth, the herbal flavor was surprisingly not too overpowering to me, just nice for my liking.

Blanched vegetables with oyster sauce for that Vitamin C quota.

The Yao Char Guai were quite different with the common one. Pao Xiang’s version was shorter but they were good, slightly crunchy on the outer with soft fluffy inner.

Total damage was RM46.55 with 3 rice, 2 portion of pork ribs, vegetables, Yao Char Guai and a pot of Chinese tea.

Verdict: Not a bad choice at all for a chain Bak Kut Teh restaurant, good portion and the flavor suit my tastebud. It has been raining for two days continuously and what’s better than having some warm soupy Bak Kut Teh for dinner? I definitely want it, how about you?

  • Ah, I know where this place is because I like to eat the bak kut teh a few doors away. I have eaten pao xiang bah kut teh but not at this outlet.

  • Knowing that it’s a Klang version, I’m not so for it as I find the herbal taste too strong (and the soup too thick) for my taste buds. I hear that the minimal amount of soup is their concept as the soup is simmered for hours until it thickens.

  • what a coincidence, i just walked past pao xiang at pavilion a few hours ago … it’s quite a well-decorated outlet at pavilion, very nicely furnished 😉

  • I have been meaning to try the one at 1-Utama but so far haven’t done it. After reading this post, I must give it a go.
