Restoran Ayam Tauke @ Buntong, Ipoh
Located further away from the tourist hotspot at Ipoh town, Restoran Ayam Tauke (Chicken Boss? ^__^) at Buntung was our new found place for bean sprout chicken rice. This restaurant hidden within the residential houses unquestionably a popular dining spot for Ipohan judging from the busy crowd during our visit on a Saturday evening.
Chicken chopping non stop throughout our dinner.
Converted from a residential house, there are quite plenty of tables (more than 20) for both indoor and outdoor. Nothing much to show about the dining area hence the missing of the photos of the interior (the fact is I didn’t take any photo of it LOL)
The warm and fast service by the amiable staffs was really commendable.
Herbal Tea, Chinese Tea & Wheatgrass Juice (Total: RM5.80)
Poached Chicken (RM16.00)
The chicken was drenched in soy sauce concoction on bed of sliced cucumbers and crowned with spring onion and a bit of chopped chilies. Texture wise, the chicken was cooked just right with tender and succulent meat. The soy sauce was a bit on the salty side.
The chili sauce provided was not the usual chicken rice chili sauce. It had slightly thicker consistency with a subtle hint of sourness, came with a dollop of mashed ginger. I still prefer the usual chicken rice chili sauce, I would say.
Bean Sprout (RM3.50)
Fat and crunchy bean sprout, simple but satisfying.
Hor Fun Soup (RM2.20)
The Hor Fun (flat rice noodles) was slippery smooth, available in both soup and dry version.
Pork Balls (RM4.00 – 5pcs)
Verdict: Total bill was RM32.90 (included a big white rice @RM1.40), a satiated Ipoh bean sprout chicken rice dinner that I have no hesitation to recommend to you.
