Restoran Kar Heong @ SS14, Subang Jaya

Have you dined in any eateries after the restrictions had further loosen? Me still skeptical on this although I miss dining in restaurant.  ╯﹏╰

Anyway, today’s post is one of those restaurants that I visited before MCO (& there are still many pending eateries/ travelogue that I have yet blog about. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ )

The enticing sight once you stepped into Restoran Kar Heong at SS14, Subang Jaya. Roasted chicken, roasted meat, poached chicken and Char Siew hanging gloriously in the food preparing counter to tempt the passers by.

The dining area was further inside the shop and as you could see, the tables are quite cramped within the space. More seating are available on upstairs.

There are two outlets as per printed on the menu.

Ambra (RM4.00) & Iced Milk Tea (RM2.20)

Coffee, tea, fruit juices, soft drinks, soya milk, barley drink and herbal drink are available in the menu.

There are a lot of choices of meal combination in their menu.  One can have rice with plain chicken (normal poached chicken, Kampung Chicken or roasted chicken), combination of 2 meats (chicken of your choice of part such as wing, thigh or drumstick + Char Siew/roasted pork), and combination of 3 types of meat.

White Chicken Breast Rice (RM6.50)

The rice was slightly yellowish but it was not as flavourful as I had hoped. The chili sauce was good though, spicy with adequate acidity.

Sam & hubby are fan of chicken breast, so both of them had poached chicken breast & roasted chicken breast. The chicken breast, as expected, was slightly stringy but still acceptable in terms of texture.

Roasted Chicken Breast + Roasted Pork Rice (RM9.00)

The roasted chicken had a decent flavourful skin with pleasant smokey taste. The roasted pork was above average too, nice crackling skin and well marinated meat.

White Chicken Drumstick Hor Fun (RM9.00)

My Hor Fun (rice noodles) was slippery smooth in texture and the broth was okay, not too salty. I opted for chicken drumstick and it proved to be a good choice as it was meaty and succulent. The accompanied soy sauce concoction well complemented the chicken.

Curry Mee and Wonton Mee were available too.

Ipoh Bean Sprout (Small – RM3.00)

Fat and crunchy bean sprouts.

Other choices in the menu were pork balls, meat balls, Womton, dumpling, garlic oil bean curd and vegetables.

♥Verdict: Overall it was a rather satisfying bean sprout chicken meal, but Subang Jaya isn’t really near my house and I can get similar food (with same standard) in my neighbourhood. Still a viable option, if you ask me. ^__*

  • I’m also a fan of poached chicken like Sam….but not the chicken breast-lah! >_< It'd probably be less stringy if you eat it with the skin. What happened to the skin? This person needs to improve his chopping skills (and presentation)…..haha! 😀

    • Kris, both of hubby and Sam like chicken breast so it benefits me as I can have the better tasting chicken drumstick or my fav chicken wing 😛

  • I have been to the other Kar Hiong that serves chow choi dishes. The food was pretty good. Next time I must try this one for the poached chicken.

  • looks like you visited at the perfect time, with all the fresh char siu, siu rok, roast chicken and poached chicken still in its full, abundant glory, waiting for the lunch crowd to devour everything! 🙂

  • One of your staff was damn rude.

    • Jaslim, sorry to know about your bad experience but FYI, I’m not owner of the restaurant and I’m just a normal patron just like you. =.=”

      • This place is downtrend of their foods and services nothing like old-time anymore…Many nice similar food around that area now ..Like chan Ming kee, Ming keep, Nam Heong ,and soso

        • Ng, thank you for visiting my blog! Since this was my first visit, so there’s no comparison on the food standard and service. Hehe 😛
