Restoran Kong Mah @ Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh

I’ve mentioned in THIS post that my family’s most frequented Dim Sum place is located in Kampung Sungai Buloh which is Restoran Kong Mah that I’m going to blog about today.

Both indoor and outdoor seating are available with simple round tables and plastic chairs/stools. The indoor dining area is bright and airy, equipped with air conditioner and ceiling fans. Parking can be slightly challenging at this area especially on weekends because the morning market is located diagonally across the street.

Chinese Tea in pot (RM1.60/pax)

The Dim Sum tray was brought to our table as soon as we sat down, even before we placing order for the tea. This happened on our every visit, super efficient, I tell ya and the Dim Sum staffs will go around the dining area frequently to ensure the diners are well fed. (^ω^)

Siew Mai & Har Gao

To be honest, I’m not fan of these classic Dim Sum (*^.^*) but Sam and hubby enjoyed the Siew Mai and it’s one of their obligatory orders during Dim Sum session. Both were generously filled with fresh bouncy meat and prawn filling but the skin of the Har Gao was a tad too thick.

Char Siew Bao (RM2.35/pcs)

Sweet savoury barbequed meat encased in the soft fluffy bao, another favourite of ours.

Lao Sar Bao (RM2.35/pcs)

The quality of this salted egg yolk bao was not consistent as sometimes the filling was not liquidized with oozing effect as I would have hoped.

Chee Cheong Fun (RM4.65)

Comes with options of prawn or Char Siew filling, the smooth slippery steamed rice rolls drenched in soy sauce was decent.

Steamed Spare Ribs

There are two version here, with yam cubes and without, I prefer the former. (^v^)

Fried Prawn Rolls

I like this fried to perfect crispy bean curd sheet skin with prawn filling, however it can be quite greasy sometimes. (´_`)

Deep Fried Radish Cake

Minced Pork Porridge with Century Egg (RM4.65)

Both are Sam’s favourite at Kong Mah. The fried radish cakes studded with dried shrimps and Chinese waxed sausage (Lap Cheong) had a nice crisp outer and the contrasting soft creamy center was delicious with good savory flavours.

The porridge was topped with crunchy fried Yau Char Kwai (I guess this is the main factor Sam love this porridge so much LOL ), silky smooth on texture and the flavor was good too.

Lotus Leaf Rice

The soft glutinous rice dumpling was stuffed with goodies like pork, salted egg yolk, Chinese waxed sausage and mushroom, well seasoned with sweet savoury sauce.

Apart from the above common Dim Sum dishes, they also offer some special items these were a few that we’ve tried.

Fried Fish Paste Balls

The meaty fish paste balls were studded with carrots and other ingredients.

Steamed Lala Mai

Seafood lovers will be delighted to see this steamed Lala clams stuffed with fish paste, and served in broth laced with lots of umami flavors.

Steamed Otak Otak

Longan & Gui Ling Gao Jelly (RM3.70)

Sam and I always end our Dim Sum session with a cup of refreshing jelly.

Price list: Steamed/Fried Dim Sum (Small – RM4.65/plate)

Steamed/Fried Dim Sum (Big – RM4.65/plate)

Special Dim Sum (RM8.50/portion)

Yam Puff, Egg Tart & assorted Baos (RM2.35/pcs)

Big Bao, Loh Mai Gai (RM4.65)

♥Verdict: Being our favourite Dim Sum restaurant, we like the food here. Maybe some of you which have been to this place think that their Dim Sum is quite mediocre, but I would say “taste is subjective” , the food here suite our tastebud. I also like that this place not as crowded as other Dim Sum places such as THIS
