Restoran Next Station 百家村面家 @ Sec.19, PJ

Restoran Next Station 百家村面家 is well tucked in one of the shop houses opposite the famous relocated SS2 durian stalls and with Strangers At Forty 7, Kanna Curry House & Jeq In The House right across the road.

Restoran Next Station is a no-frills restaurant serving various of noodles and rice along with condiments such as Kampung chicken, fish balls, fish cakes, bean sprouts and lobak, just to name a few.

We were there for early lunch and the place was still quite vacant but it was filled up quickly during lunch time.

Tomato Soup + Rice (RM8.00)

Basically all the soup dishes served here are using the same soup base which is chicken stock that has been boiled for hours. Further infused with both tomato paste and fresh tomatoes, the broth was tangy and addictively delicious. There were chunks of chicken meat, pork slices, fish ball, omelet and abalone slices in the soup. You may opt for tomato soup noodles as well.

Ginger Wine Soup Noodles (RM7.50)

Ginger wine is added to the chicken base stock for that extra alcohol kick and aroma. The flavor was at the mild side and easy to the palate but for those who prefer stronger taste, feel free to ask for more ginger wine when ordering. For the noodle, diners can choose to have yellow noodle, vermicelli, koay teow, “rat tail noodles” or mee suah.

Eh…. just a moment! Where’s the wood ear fungus as per seen in the menu? >_<

Dry Noodles with Kampung Chicken (RM9.00)

Dry noodles also another option but the taste of the sauce concoction was rather bland. The rightful star of this set certainly belonged to poached Kampung chicken. Served on pool of soy sauce and topped with coriander, the smooth chicken skin with succulent tender flesh was sublime. The served along house made fried ginger onion complemented the chicken very well and manage to elevate the flavor a few notches.

Fu Zhuk Roll (RM3.00 – Small) & Bakar Village Fried Lobak (RM7.00 – 2rolls)

Bakar Village, a small village at Tapah where the owner of Restoran Next Station grew up. The signature chicken soup base as well as the tomato and ginger wine infused soup are creations from his mom.

Verdict: Food here is unpretentious and basic but shout wholesomeness. The affordable price range definitely lure me for revisit.
