Restoran Siaw Kah @ Sungai Chua, Kajang
If you think Kajang is just all about satay, then you have to venture to this humble little town for another famous delicacy of “Lat Tong” aka Hot Soup 辣汤. There are a few restaurants selling this Hot Soup and Restoran Siaw Kah is one of famous/recommended place.
The restaurant is rather spacious with simple setting. It is brightly lit and airy with many waiting staffs, the service indeed fast and attentive.
Siaw Kah Spicy Hot Soup 萧家辣汤 (RM12.00/portion)
Their signature Spicy Hot Soup was chock-full of ingredients, kampung chicken, pork and innards such as liver and stomach, ginger and Chinese parsley. The broth was well infused with peppery taste, not too overpowering but good enough to warm your body and soul 🙂
Spicy Pork Belly with Dried Shrimp 火爆肉 (RM13.00/portion)
served pipping hot in a claypot, the flavors of this spicy pork belly were certainly evocative and punchy with lots of umami note from the dried shrimps. Studded with plenty of onions, spring onions and chili padi(!), the black sauce went really well with rice. It had a strong flavors and aroma that we Malaysians taste bud are fond of.
Steamed Pork Belly with Yam 芋头扣肉 (RM 17.00)
The Steamed Pork Belly with Yam was pale in comparison with the former two dishes. It was just average, the pork belly was tender but not particularly pronounced in flavor.
Spring Roll 春卷 (RM12.00)
The spring roll had nice crunchy outer and the flavors was well executed. However I don’t like the texture of the meat filling, it was not compact enough.
Vegetables 蚝油生菜 (M- RM10.00)
Verdict: Both their signature dishes of hot soup and spicy pork belly were really good but other dishes we’ve tried were just mediocre.

Too much pork! I’m gonna faint!
Then you faint ba~~~
If the spicy hot soup is like the usual chee tow tong….then I like (especially with pork innards). And the spicy pork belly would be something like ham yue far lam pou except with dried prawns instead of salted fish? Actually, the spring roll looks very good to me…hehe! ;D
EWEW, the hot soup is not as peppery like pig stomach soup but there are pork innards in it, I guess u will like it. For the spicy pork, you are right! It is similar with ham yue far lam bou omit the salted fish.
You are so adventurous to venture all the way to Kajang! It is true that I only ate satay there many times!
I love this Spicy Pork Belly with Dried Shrimp and Steamed Pork Belly with Yam! I could see that the spring roll lacked of some punchy ingredients.
Actually I needed to collect something at Kajang so dropped by for dinner as well lor, hehe 😛 Kajang still very far for me >_<
Never been to Kajang before. But I know their satay is very famous, LOL!
Then u can try also this hot soup beside satay if u happen to be at Kajang.
all the dai chow-style food looks well-prepared – i’ve actually not explored kajang’s food much, even though my home in sri petaling is not too far from kajang 😀
Kajang seem like an interesting to explore that worth check out.
Long time I haven’t been to Kajang. I used to take bus there with friends when I was in UKM. The food looks good especially the pork belly dish.
The pork belly dish goes well with rice which will probably ruin your low carbon diet >_<
We drive by Kajang each time on the way back to my in-law’s place but never once stopped by for a meal. Hehe. Guess we are not adventurous enough when it comes to food.
It’s ok, now your know Kajang have good food too and can stop by next time during your balik kampung trip ^__^
