Restoran Yulek Wan Tan Mee @ Cheras

How many of you are avid fans of Wonton Mee?

I am, I must admit. I have been sharing quite a number of Wonton Mee that I’ve tried included those already famous in Klang Valley such as THIS and THIS, or Fat Yoong and Lee Fong Yuen which are nearby my house area. I didn’t miss the opportunity to try out Wonton Mee from other states too when I traveled like this one from Ipoh as well as from Melaka. Mak’s Chee which is hailing from Hong Kong was one of my hunt too.

I’m sure that everyone has their own preferred place(s) to fix your Wonton Mee craving. Is Restoran Yulek Wan Tan Mee one of the better options, especially people who stay in Cheras?

I was brought to here when I told hubby that I want to have Wonton Mee for brunch. All the way from Kepong to Cheras, it’d better be something good.

Restaurant full occupancy and a steady stream of customers as well as delivery orders, I suppose it means good food is served here.

Newspaper cutting being shown proudly on the wall. Eventually, their Char Siew is the most raved dish here.

Iced Milk Tea (RM2.70)

Char Siew Wonton Mee (Dry) (Small – RM7.50)

Good portion and the overall appearance ticked all the boxes with dark sauce, springy looking noodles and the Char Siew seem legit.

The soy sauce concoction was hitting the right notes for flavour and aroma. The addition of pork lard oil definitely the magical ingredient that imparted the soul to the sauce. The Char Siew indeed deserved the merit, smoky, sweet and tender with a lovely charred layer.

Braised Chicken Feet & Mushroom (Medium – RM8.00)

The chicken feet were soft and easily off-the-bone with just one suck (you’ll understand if you like chicken feet (^▽^)/\(^▽^) Both chicken feet and mushrooms were delicious, well braised and flavourful.

The Siew Yoke lover got the combination of Siew Yoke + Char Siew (Small – RM9.50) to go with his dry Wonton Mee. Unfortunately, the Siew Yoke was a let down. The skin was not crunchy and the meat was lack of flavour. Oh ya, I like that every plate of noodles came with some blanched vegetables to make it a well balanced meal.

Not really bother about the small Wonton though. ( ̄ー ̄)

Dumpling (Fried – RM1.60/pcs & Soup – RM1.40/pcs)

Both fried and soup dumpling were decent with adequate tasty meat and vegetables filling.

♥Verdict: The Wonton Mee and Char Siew were spot on and memorably good. I wouldn’t say no to a revisit, IF I happen to be at this area as I have a few options (which are nearer to my place) at my disposal. For those who live nearby or want to try out this place, go ahead!
