Located just few minutes walk away from where I stayed (Amari Watergate Bangkok), I went here for breakfast on my 3rd day in Bangkok. Reached circa 10am+ and luckily there was no queue as per mentioned in many reviews but a queue was ensued when we leave the restaurant.

Simple setting with tables and chairs cramped within the shop area. The air-conditioners and wall fans definitely the saving grace to the hot and humid weather of Bangkok. Ordering not an issue as the servers speak a smattering of Mandarin.

sauces and chili powder on every table.

And the waiter brought another set of condiments to us when our food was served but we didn’t touch any of them.

Special Dry Wonton Noodles (100 Baht)

Portion is ridiculously small for that price, came with 3 spoonful of noodles, a few pieces of char siu, miserable amount of crab meat and vegetables. Despite the measly portion, the flavor was spot on with addition of crispy pork lard and fragrant pork lard oil. It didn’t take long for us to gobble it all up. (There is another regular version without crab meat priced 60 Baht)

The soupy version was just mediocre for us if compared with the former.

Braised Pig Trotter Rice

There are only 2 types of food available here, wonton noodles or pig trotter.

One can order the pig trotter with rice like the photo above or platter of pork trotter and intestine. The pork trotter was perfectly braised, fabulously tender with melt in mouth fat layer and flavors well infused within. Served with hard boiled egg and preserved vegetables.

The one and only one, no other branch!

Verdict: To be honest, the wonton noodles is a bit overrated and pricey for that portion. There are certainly some other better tasting wanton noodles in Malaysia, but this Thailand version has it’s own uniqueness in terms of flavor. I thought it was worth to try at least once. The braised pork trotter definitely worth recommending though.
