Segambut Chicken Rice @ Segambut
I’ve heard so much about this Segambut fried chicken rice and it has been in my must-eat list for the longest time. Actually this place is not far from where I stay but there are just some unknown reasons that make me missed the chance to pay it a visit until last month….
I was here finally on a Saturday afternoon! The location of this place can be quite tricky if you are not aided by GPS device. Let me roughly guide your the direction:- If Yu Ai Seafood Noodle is on your left, turn right at the traffic light. Turn left immediately and the stall will be on your left, under a big tree & opposite a coffee powder factory. (GPS coordinate will be provided at the end of the post)
We were there at circa 1.30pm+ and the shack (yes, it’s a shack under the big tree hence the Chinese name Dai Shu Tao Chicken Rice) was almost fully occupied.
Since I’m first timer so I walked to the “operation counter” and refer to the menu what’s to order. Actually they ONLY serve chicken here, different parts of chicken such as whole leg, thigh, or wings to go with rice.
Whole Leg with Rice (RM 8.50)
The astounding serving of fried chicken whole leg on bed of sliced cucumbers with sprinkles of chopped spring onions and coriander.
The fried chicken was perfectly cooked, the skin was lightly battered then fried till golden brown and extremely crispy. The flesh was moist, juicy and well-flavored too and the plus point was the fried chicken was not greasy at all, definitely one of the best I’ve tried!
The rice on the other hand was lackluster, it was clumpy and not oil rice as per described in some of the blogs.
The chili sauce was pretty good too, spicy with just enough vinegar for zing without being too acidic on taste bud.
Verdict: Who can say NO to this affordable and delicious fried chicken? Definitely not me! ^__*

Honestly, I had almost 2 plates of chicken on my second visit 😛
Fried? I think i’ll have to pass on that 😛
Why? Once a while ok lah! Very delicious with the extremely crunchy skin, yum yum~
Price has gone up to RM 11.00 (wholeleg) as of 03/08/2020 quality is still ok. Most of the customers are workers from around the area. There use to be another stall serving the same type food around the area, now not sure where they went.
