Seong Man 上文 @ Ipoh
Ipoh is not just about white coffee, pomelo, bean sprout chicken and Leng Luis (pretty girls) (^_<)～☆
During my last excursion to Ipoh (last year December), I put Seong Man into my food hunt list apart from the aforementioned usual local offerings.
Located along Jalan Sultan Iskandar (nearby the famous biscuit shop Ching Han Guan), Seong Man is a tea house which serves not only wide variety of Chinese tea, but also desserts and vegetarian meal.
One can definitely feel the serenity and the pleasing sense of tranquility once stepped into the shop. With soothing Chinese oldies at the background, the use of antique wooden furniture, vintage cabinet displaying delicate teapot sets, exquisite wooden carvings as well as the dim lighting set an authentic feel for patrons for capturing the oriental vibe.
Seong Man also a space for art exhibitions and cultural events.
Tea Set 2a (RM29.00 – for 2 pax)
Featuring Tang Yuan with Grass Jelly, Steamed Red Bean Cake or Ginko Nut Barley Agar and an option of served with hot or cold tea of your choice.
Tea selection here is extensive, ranging from green teas (Bi Luo Chun 碧螺春), black teas (Red Tea 红茶), white teas (Silver Needle 白毫银针), Taiwanese tea (High Mountain Oolong 高山乌龙 & Oriental Beuty 东方美人) as well as Japanese teas (Hojicha 培茶 & Karigane玉露茎茶)
The steamed red bean cakes was a bit bland, would have appreciated a sweeter rendition. I like the serving of chestnut at side. (＾ω＾)
The chilled Tang Yuan was refreshing enough to cool us down after our photo shooting at the nearby Mural Art’s Lane (will share this in another post).
Their rice set priced at RM18.00 included multigrain rice, main dish (choose from Curry, Braised Mushroom and Veggie, Black Bean Ginger Vinegar Stew, Mushrooms and Pickled Mustard Greens Stew & Chickpea and Mushrooms Stew), pickle as well as dessert.
Verdict: Certainly had a crush on the soothing ambiance and laid back vibe of Seong Man. If you’re looking for a less crowded place to chill out at Ipoh, this is the place!
