Sunday Roast @ Farquhar’s Bar, Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang
The Sunday roast is a traditional British main meal that is typically served on Sunday (hence the name). It is originated in England as a meal to be eaten after church on Sunday. Eating a large meal following church services is common to all of the continent of Europe as with other Christian countries, but the Sunday roast variant of this meal is uniquely English.
The meal consisting of roasted meat, roast potato, and accompaniments such as Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, vegetables and gravy. Other vegetables such as cauliflower often in the form of cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips, brussels sprouts, peas, carrots, runner beans and broccoli, can be part of the dish. (Source)
During my stay at Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang, I had chance to try out the All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast at Farquhar’s Bar.
Nestled in Heritage Wing of the Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang, the Farquhar’s Bar is named after Robert Townsend Farquhar, Penang’s Lieutenant-Governor. The space is dominated by dark wood elements and warm light which exudes a vintage English gentlemen club feel.
Served every Sunday from 12.00noon to 4.00pm at RM75.40nett per person, the All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Roast comprises of full-flavoured roastedmeat, buoyed by lovely soft Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables and some hearty gravy.

Savour the roasts with choices of horseradish, mint sauce, Dijon mustard or traditional shallot gravy.

A healthy portion of varied seasonal vegetable and goose fat roasted potatoes to complete the carnivores’ feast.

KY, if budget not a problem, E&O definitely an ideal option for Penang accommodation.

that’s a very worthwhile price for an all you can eat roast – considering that a plate alone might cost more than RM50 in kl! 😀
