The Brew House @ TTDI, Kuala Lumpur

The Brew House is a neighbourhood restaurant and bar chain with total of six outlets located in Klang Valley – SS2, Sri Petaling, TTDI, Sunway Giza, Taipan & Puchong. The restaurant’s large menu offers wide variety of Pan-Asian and modern western dishes that I believe everyone will find something to tickle their taste bud.

There is a vast array of porcine dishes in the menu and this is the main reason I brought hubby to try out this place as he’s a big fan of oink oink delicacies.

We were there for lunch and the the restaurant was just opened for business, so I can get some pretty nice photos of the interior. The bar counter took center stage of the interior with wide variety of beers, wines and alcohols displayed on the shelves and cabinets. The extensive list of fresh brews, draught beers, cocktails, wines and alcohols will certainly make this place a popular spot to have a pint or two after work especially with their happy hour promotion.

Adorned with plenty of hanging lights, The Brew House’s setting is not complicated. Simple tables and chairs occupy the main dining area, paired with banquette seats with wire mesh design as well as high tables and bar counter seating. If you prefer al-fresco dining, there are a few tables available on the walkway too.

Salted Egg Fish Skin (RM13.80)

This is awesome, order or regret! This salted egg fish skin snack has created so much hype for the past two years and it still shows no signs of slowing down. The Brew House’s rendition with additional of meat floss is an uplifting that complement the texture and flavours of it. The fish skin crisp was coated with salted egg yolk seasoning as well as generous sprinkles of meat floss, marrying sweet, salty, and savoury in one bite.

Signature Pork Chop (250g – RM19.80)

Sit on a “hill” of potato puree (a more than generous portion :P), I knew that this big slab of pork chop was quite dry even before I savouring it and it proved that my food sense was totally correct after that initial bite. The pork chop had a dry and coarse texture and the marinade was not impressive too. The peppercorn sauce (more like the usual black pepper sauce) did provide the much needed moist and flavour to the meat. There were also apple slaw (which I doubted there was any apple in it) and peach salad (the menu said grilled peach >_<)

The value-for-money set lunch that available everyday.

Char Siew Rice Bowl (Set Lunch – RM13.80)

Our Char Siew Rice Bowl was nothing like in the set lunch menu! It was poorly presented with the Char Siew pieces were not nicely arranged and the onsen egg was a bit under-cooked with very raw egg white. Not only the presentation, the flavour was also disappointing. The meat was rather bland tasting and the preserved vegetables had not done much in its aid either.

The set lunch came with complimentary soup, drink and a scoop of ice cream.

Spaghetti Bolognese (Set Lunch – RM12.80)

The Pork Spaghetti Bolognese was decent but did not mind blowing, as though it was just an ordinary pasta dish.

Verdict: Perhaps we’d ordered the wrong dishes, our dining experience at The Brew House was merely satisfying but I really like the salted egg fish skin and highly recommend it.

  • Looks like a place I will enjoy and best of all it is near my place.

  • Yeap, the only thing I enjoyed here was the salted egg fried fish skin with pork floss. I don’t think you ordered the wrong dishes, I had another main that wasn’t successful either. I had the same disastrous signature pork chop too…and yes, there’s no apple slaw (though it’s stated in the menu) but a shredded cabbage slaw instead. The peach was grilled if you can call just two grill marks as grilled….haha! ;D

  • Brew House SS2 Manager is a total screwed-up ass.,Very rude. Had a few encounter there,I go because of the friendly staff. I even buy groceries for the staff during MCO when they were temporary lay off. The manager is a useless individual there. Very good to being offen to customers.
