The Toast House 多士號 @ SS15, Subang Jaya

For the love of Taiwanese food, I’ve checked out the latest breakfast cafe from Taichung – The Toast House 多士號 recently.

Located in Subang Jaya’s F&B hub on busy street of SS15, The Toast House is originally from Fengjia district, Taichung, Taiwan. Established in 2015 and now with more than 12 outlets across the country, The Toast House is famous for their charcoal grilled sandwiches as well as other Taiwaneses favourite breakfast such as Taiwanese Pancake with various of fillings, burgers and black tea beverages.

We arrived early (our weekend standard (^^;)) at 10am+ on Sunday, the cafe was brimming with patrons and a steady stream of “worshipers” kept pouring in throughout our meal.

The cafe adopts a simple bright white theme furnished with light wooden tables and vibrant yellow metal chairs. Big acrylic logo signage, black and white cute murals and the-must-have-in-trend neon light decor completed the interior. Simple setting with Chinese pop songs at the background but the seating is a bit cramped within the space.

Their soft opening menu was quite straightforward with three main types of food – toasts, Taiwanese pancakes and burgers with variety of fillings. Drink choices are quite limited too.

Local Coffee – Hot (RM3.00) & Black Sugar Ginger Tea – Hot (RM6.00)

Taiwanese Pancake with Bacon (RM8.00)

I was a bit caught off guard when this was served on our table. Portion was rather small for the price charged, I would have hoped for more filling in the pancake. The pancake was soft chewy and spread with a layer of sweet savoury sauce, wrapped with omelet and delicious bacon.

Pork Sandwich (RM8.00)

Check out the portion, a lot more worthy right? ٩(●ᴗ●)۶

Every sandwich bread is carefully charcoal grilled, so patient might be required especially during peak hours. Good stuff definitely worth waiting for as the bread had a nice smoky crisp, layered with well marinated pork, fried egg, cabbage, tomato slice, mustard and thousand island dressing.

Crispy Fried Chicken Burger (RM13.00)

It’s a tall stack of spicy fried chicken thigh, fried egg, cheese, cabbage, tomato slice and thousand island dressing, sandwiched in slightly toasted sesame bun. The batter of the  spicy fried chicken thigh was a tad too thick for my licking but the meat was tender and juicy nonetheless.

Verdict: My dining experience did’t quite live up to my expectation. The food was just decent but did not mind blowing, as though they were just an ordinary dishes that I believe I can get elsewhere. Revisit? Most probably not, perhaps I can fly to Taiwan for some authentic Taiwanese food? *thinking of next year bonus (・ωー)~☆
