Thistle Port Dickson Resort, GBU Eating Point & Organic Dragon Valley
We were on a 2D1N short trip to Port Dickson last school holidays and we opted to stay at Thistle Port Dickson Resort.

Holiday mood ON! ♪(*^^)o∀*∀o(^^*)♪

Thistle Port Dickson Resort

The hotel lobby spacious and air with plenty of seats for the guests.

We arrived circa 5.00pm, there were a few groups of guests waiting at the check in counters. When I was about to queue for my check in, a hotel staff gave me a ticket and informed me to wait for my number to be called. Luckily the check in process didn’t take long as Sam couldn’t wait to get into the pool!

The lounge overlooking the swimming pool.
I requested for a Superior King room when booking but we were assigned with twin beds and combined together as the photo above when checked in.

Working/dressing table and flat Screen LCD TV with very limited channels if you must know >_< Wi-Fi is available in all guest rooms and throughout the resort.

Our room comes with a private balcony overlooking the landscaped gardens.

Room amenities are basic but sufficient – there’s the usual coffee and tea making facilities, in-room safe, extra pillows, indoor slippers, iron and board.

The bathroom was fairly large in size with separate shower stall and toilet as well as basic toiletries and hair dryer.

Lamps control board and Go Green notice.

Balcony at the lift waiting area on first floor.
The weather was just perfect for some pool time, let’s go!

The extremely huge swimming pool area is divided into a few sections with different depths clearly demarcated. There are ample lounge chairs placed around the pool.

The Kid’s Wet Play Zone is very popular among young kids. The kiddy playground located right behind but we didn’t have enough time to explore >_<

There is a pool-side bar and stalls at the pool area too if one need some refreshments or snacks.

Ok, it’s pool time! The big donut float I got from Taobao certainly eye catching!

The resort has a selection of water games for hire and schedule of different activities for the guests, do check them out with the Sports & Recreation team.

I’m happy with the kid’s friendly facilities offered at Thistle Port Dickson such as Lego room, mini playground, balls pit, table tennis table, pool table (chargeable) and diaper changing room. There’s also a movie room and games room with Wii.
PS: Look at that silly papa =.=”

After the tiring water playing session, we had our dinner nearby the resort but unfortunately it was a disaster! Tasteless oyster omelet, bland soup, vegetables with starchy gravy and thick battered boney pork ribs ~>_<~ This restaurant used to be quite ok during our previous visit though.

Went back to hotel after dinner and we had a leisure stroll around the resort. Beautiful view of the pool when most of the rooms were being lit up.

Cumulus, a beach side bar that set against the magnificent backdrop of the Straits of Melaka.

Karaoke room

Since our room didn’t come with breakfast, we did some research on breakfast place at P.D and found that choices really limited. We finally settled at GBU Eating Point (formerly known as P.D. Eating Point) located rather close to the town.(Besides Le Paris Hotel & PD Catholic Church)

Very typical coffee shop aka kopitiam setting with 2-3 food stalls (nasi lemak & noodles) operating in the shop. To our surprise, GBU is well-known for their affordable Western breakfast.

Barley Lemon (RM2.50) & Coffee (RM1.30)

Breakfast (RM6.80)
We had sunny-side-up and omelet breakfast. Portion was satisfying, both the egg and garlic bread were well prepared however other elements were too oily for us.
The property is large and we spent some time explored the place after our breakfast.
Above: Santai Spa housed at the separate building in front of the hotel. There is also a fitness centre equipped with cardio machines and fitness instructors are available for consult.
Below: Leisure 9 hole golf course.

Giant ‘Snake & Ladder’ and Checkers game. The hotel also offers certified S.W.A.T team building camp facilities with experienced trainers.

Leading to the resort’s private beach.

The beach is quite clean and water surprisingly quite clear.

The infinity pool overlooking the beach and the straits of Malacca, the Cumulus bar I’ve mentioned is located right beside.

Laid back and enjoyed the sea breeze before checking out. Sam actually reluctant to leave the resort which happened almost every time during the end of our holiday >_<

Verdict: Overall we enjoyed our stay at Thistle Port Dickson Resort. The room condition, service and the facilities are satisfying. My only complaint would be location of the hotel which is quite a distance away from Port Dickson town.

We stopped by this Organic Dragon Valley on our back home to get some fresh Dragon Fruits for our family.

The Dragon Fruit harvest period was just over, hence the “botak” Dragon Fruit plants.

The beautiful Dragon Fruit flower. According to the affable owner, the flowers only bloom for one night and will fall off the next day.

Pure Dragon Fruit juice.

There are a few dragon fruit farms at Sepang area, do drop by and get some fruits if you ever at the vicinity.

A nice local getaway is great for family bonding, rejuvenate body and mind and most important no need to break the bank! Can’t wait to plan our next trip!
More of a family place, i’d be so bored; the western breakfast looks bad too. But the dragonfruit farm sounds more interesting
You can go swimming pool, beach, gym, spa~~
Looks like a great spot for a little getaway
Indeed!
I love all your nice photos very much from the room, tree tops view, hotel facilities, food, sun, sea and all the fun!! Wow! I could feel so relaxed looking at your good photos. Your family make good models for happy family shots too!
Honestly, the most attractive part is the facilities for children! I would be happy to be kids again…..
Thanks for always be my fan of my photos 😛
You are always welcome to join the kids in the play room ^__^
I think my kids will love the pool and Lego playroom. I remembered passing by this hotel and agreed that it located slightly away from the town. Cari makan susah….
Ya, the location…. 🙁
My kids will surely love the pool and Lego play room. Bet they will not want to leave that 2 places.
All kid is the same >_<
Thistle is my favourite spot to get away and hibernate. I do it a few time a year! Next time try the seaview room. 🙂
I usually have my bfast at the hotel. Not a bad spread. Lunch is always banana leaf in PD town. Dinner at the seafood restaurant located on the main road short distance from the hotel.
I’ll make sure to include breakfast next time during hotel booking 😛 Thanks for the tips ~
i remember stopping by thistle while driving back to kl from malacca in 2013 … it was nice to sip a cocktail at cumulus while enjoying the beach view 😉
Ya, I’m quite regret didn’t stay longer at Cumulus during night time.
wow looks big the swimming pool.

It’s free of charge for entering the farm.
