Upperhouse Kitchen and Dessert Bar @ Bangsar
50% off for all items in the menu sound great right? I was attracted by this anniversary promotion immediately and made a beeline for reservation but the dining experience was felt short of satisfaction. For 50% off, it was just a forgettable meal, I would say. If the food was charged full price, I’m afraid it would be hard to be convinced for a revisit.
The eye catching black and white mural greeted us once we stepped into the restaurant.
The seating arrangement certainly fulfilled the standard SOP with a lot of room between the tables. The space was airy and received great illumination of sunlight from the glass window.

Caramel Latte (RM11.00)
Summer Salad (RM23.00)
The portion and ingredients of this salad didn’t quite live up to my expectation. There were baby spinach, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, pickled onion and a few dried cranberries, served with honey balsamic dressing. The baked chickpeas as the crunchy element was rather good but the orange that stated in the menu was missing.
Brioche Chicken Burger (RM24.00)
It’s just a mediocre chicken burger with a piece of not-so-big buttermilk fried chicken, coleslaw, cheese, sliced tomato and cucumber.
Bondi Fish & Chips (RM25.00)
The fish and chips was just another ordinary dish and didn’t impress me one tiny bit.
Gula Melaka Chiffon (RM15.00)
After all the disappointment of our food, I really imparted high expectation for their dessert because desserts are the go-to at this restaurant.
The appearance of my cake was persuasively appealing, tall with beautiful layers of cakes and kaya spread, with Gula Melaka syrup served separately. However the texture was a totally let down. The cake base was dense and crumbly (I thought chiffon cake supposed to be airy and fluffy?) and I was hoping the kaya and the cream could be a little smoother.
Verdict: This was my first visit to Upperhouse Kitchen and Dessert Bar hence no comparison how’s the food before this 50% off promotion. Food we sampled that day was just average, I can’t find a good reason for me to come back.
