Urban Baybreak @ Bangsar

Joining the bustling Jalan Telawi terrain, the Penang-based Urban Daybreak offers an extensive list of all-day Australian-style brunches from 8am to 9.30pm.

A simple space furnished with dark wooden furniture further accentuated by the soft yellow hues. The coziness brought by the surrounding enchanting drapery greens and potted plants is a pleasant touch to the cafe.

Flat White (RM12.00)

Beverage choices are aplenty from coffees, handcrafted coffee, organic teas, yogurt smoothies and juices.

The food menu covers a lovely selection of breakfast/brunch staples, burgers, sandwiches, pastas, sweet waffles and toasts.

Avocado Smash (RM24.50)

Homemade guacamole, feta cheese, roasted cherry tomatoes and two perfectly poached eggs topped on a sourdough toast. A smear of cider beetroot puree completes the dish. The topping was rich and creamy with a burst of tanginess when bite into the cherry tomatoes. The cider beetroot puree provided a mild acidic note to enhance the overall flavours.

Stout Pulled Pork with Poached Egg (RM28.50)

The open-faced sandwich with sourdough toast was crowned with stout-braised pulled pork, poached egg, feta cheese as well as generous drizzles of BBQ cider vinaigrette and crispy shallots. The pulled pork was well braised, it was tender, lightly spiced with mild sweet note. The BBQ cider vinaigrette poised a comforting balance between sour and savoury while the fried shallot provided a multitude of textures to the dish. The flavour was decently satisfying but I was hoping the portion was bigger.

Super Goodness Bowl (RM24.00)

Health-conscious people will be delighted to see Yogurt Granola Bowl (RM22.00), Apple & Banana Bircher (RM22.00), Cold Roast Salad (RM26.00) and this Super Goodness Bowl in their menu. With combination of superfoods such as assorted berries, red dragon fruit, banana, mango, mint leaves, desiccated coconut, chia seed and mixed nuts, it is not only a photogenic dish but also packed of nutrients.

Verdict: Overall, it was a satiated brunch session at Urban Daybreak with food was above average, good service and rather comfortable environment (seating were a bit too close).
