Yen Can Cook ~ Chocolate Chips Cookies (Almost Famous Amos) – Air Fryer Version

Cookies. Who does not like cookies? Even Sesame Street acknowledged that and thus Cookie Monster was born since 1966. In my own experience when I grew up, I will always be tempted by the aroma of delicious cookies whenever I walked by the Famous Amos kiosk at *ahem* Sungai Wang Plaza.

I said I am tempted but at that time I rarely bought it as it will cost more to purchase a few hundred grams than a box of mixed rice with meat and veggies. But now, I can have those delicious chocolate chips cookies as much as I want because I’ve successfully replicate the cookies and had the heavenly aroma lingers at my home with this simple recipe!

Ingredients

450g all purpose flour

250g unsalted butter, melt

225g brown sugar (I used dark brown sugar)

50g corn flour

400g chocolate chips

1 tablespoon vanilla essence/extract (I omitted)

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

6 teaspoons vegetable oil

1 egg

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Put the melted butter, egg, brown sugar and vanilla essence into a bowl and mix until combined using a spatula.
Step 2: Add in all purpose flour,  corn flour, baking soda and baking powder, mix the ingredients evenly.
Step 3: Stir in vegetable oil and chocolate chips, mix well to combine all ingredients.
Step 4: Cover the bowl and let it rests in the fridge for at 30 minutes or until it turns a bit harder.
Step 5: Preheat the air fryer to 150°C. Line the basket with baking paper and rolls the dough into small balls and slightly flatten them. Air fry for 20 minutes, flip the cookies halfway through ‘baking”. Transfer the cookies onto wire racks to cool completely. The cookies are a little soft when they are freshly baked and will become crispy when they are completely cooled.
Note: My cookies turned out a bit harder than the Famous Amos version, anyone can enlighten me on how to tweak the recipe? I also found that the sweetness can be reduced a little bit, I’ll try again next time.
Oven method please refer HERE.
  • Love the look, colour and texture of the cookies. Are you selling them? Can I order? LOL 😀
  • Me…I’m not a fan of cookies…but I’ll eat them if someone gifts them to me, otherwise I won’t go and purposely buy them. Didn’t know that chocolate chip cookies can be “baked” in an air fryer. Does that mean these are fried cookies? Hah….hah…hah! 😀
  • Wow air fryer also can bake cookies! I must try this recipe. I feel like I have not baked cookies for a long time. hah..hah.. Ooops…supposed to lose weight 🙁
  • Looks like eventually I may need an air fryer…
    • KY, you can use oven to bake because I didn’t have an oven that time (I bought new oven when I replying your comment). It took me long hours to make this because the basket of the air fryer only can “bake” 4 to 5 cookies per time, very time consuming. ~>_<~
  • having the aroma of these cookies at home sounds like a beautiful result from the effort of baking! 🙂
    • Sean, my cookies are going to finish and I’m planning to bake them again. But when I saw the long queue at the baking ingredients shop near my house…… >_<
