2ND Floor Kitchen and Bar @ TTDI, K.L

I had this place on my radar for some time since a few of my blogger friends have quite good comments of their food. Without hesitation I’ve chose 2ND Floor Kitchen and Bar for my birthday gathering with my gang.

A stone’s throw away from Bowery Petit, 2ND Floor Kitchen and Bar is located on the 2nd floor of the shophouse (hence its name) which serves contemporary European cuisine.

The interior of the restaurant (semi-outdoor section) is filled with exuberant flourishes of an attractive tropical rainforest and magnificent peacock mural and the echoing artificial plants adorning the ceiling. Patchwork patterned tiles on both wall and flooring, ambient lighting as well as the mix and match modern contemporary furniture, a setting that hits all the right notes with its colours and furnishings.

The indoor dining area on the other hand is more restful and minimalist. Soothing light tone colour theme furnished with Nordic style furniture, counter bar and the leafy greens on the ceiling add liveliness to the ambience.

Featuring two different menus for brunch (available on Fri – Sun from 10am onward) and dinner, the price of the food is on higher side. The menu offers cold & hot entree, salads, soups, brunch classics, sandwiches, pancakes, toasts, pasta, main course, bar snacks and desserts. The beverage menu is equally captivating with wide choices of wines and cocktails because the restaurant is run by the same management as Private Room (wine bar) and The Pawn Room (cocktail bar).

Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries (RM15.00)

Mixed Fruit Quinoa Salad (RM25.00)

Comprised salad greens, mixed fruits such green apple, peach, pomegranate, quinoa and toasted coconut flakes tossed with light and tangy house dressing. The salad had a delightful flavours and textures but for that price, I really hoping for a bigger portion.

Grilled Iberico Pork (RM60.00)

There are good selection of pork dishes in their menu included the highly prized Iberico pork. We got ourselves this 200g Grilled Iberico Pork served with caramelized Granny Smith apple, roasted potatoes, salad and fresh Horseradish dip.

The pork had nice charred edges and grilled to a perfection tender and succulent. The flavours was moreish with pleasant smoky taste however this piece of meat we had was a bit too fat for our liking.

Pan Roasted Chicken (RM30.00)

A stack of beautiful roasted Eryngii mushrooms, boneless chicken drumstick and potato puree, alongside with Romesco sauce and crispy pangrattato (breadcrums). The smoky charred skin was well flavoured with the flesh still retained its juiciness. The tangy Romesco sauce further enhanced the flavour and I like how the pangrattato added another textural contrast to the dish.

Smoked Salmon and Eryngii (RM35.00)

Spaghetti dressed in wine wine and butter sauce, light but so pronounced in flavours. The smoked Salmon, Lumpfish caviar, Eryngii, crispy pangrattato and micro herbs combined to give the pasta a lovely marriage of flavours and textures.

Pork Ragout (RM25.00)

It’s another satisfying dish of Fettuccine served with delicious braised Iberico pork cheek, braising jus, mirepoix.

Chocolate and Coffee (RM22.00)

This dessert to me was an incarnation of the classic Italian dessert – Tiramisu. It’s a vibrant compositions of almond jaconde, chocolate cremeux, whipped coffee ganache, chocolate pearls and chocolate sheets that enable to please any coffee and chocolate lover.

Verdict: Overall, the food was pretty satisfying, scored well in terms of flavours and presentation. But the price was a bit on higher side (for my standard) and the service can be a little prompter.
