Common Man Coffee Roasters @ TTDI, K.L
Taking a small step into our shores from Singapore, Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) is a specialty coffee roaster, wholesaler, cafe and academy which has fast become a favourite spot for an extensive coffee selection and all-day brunch menu.
We arrived on peak hour for breakfast/brunch session on a Sunday morning, there were already a few groups in the waiting list. The waiting area near the entrance was fully occupied as well but Sam and I shamelessly squeezed into one of the seat 😛 We waited for almost half an hour before we were ushering to our table. (This photo was taken when we left and the crowd has dispersed)
The dining area occupying a large space with different seating arrangement. The chic wooden furnishing speak sophistication, accentuated by yellowish dim lighting. Took center stage of the interior is the long oval shape coffee bar with brass elements at the center of the cafe where the patrons can get some baristas’ actions.
Banquette seats near the window undoubtedly the most popular seating for its ample of sunlight which is ideal for food photography. (I wish I can be seated there too ~>_<~) The modern interior is framed by wooden tables and chairs, patterned cushioned stool, geometric metal furnishing as well as greenery at outdoor.
CMCR is known for its all-day brunch menu such as Common Man Full Breakfast, Egg Benedict, Brioche French Toast, Croissant Croque Monsieur and etc, and of course their coffee. They also serve lunch from 11.00am to 5.30pm with quite limited choices of salads, pasta, burger and sandwich.
Cappuccino (RM12.00)
Common Man Full Breakfast (RM39.00) + Add on Halloumi (RM12.00)
The huge plate was fully loaded with free-range organic eggs (in any style), steaky beef, smoked chicken sausage, confit herbed tomato, vegetable rosti, minted sour cream, wild mushrooms and honey rye bread. The portion was definitely enormous which is good enough two small eater or a very filling portion for one.
We had our egg in scrambled egg style and it was nicely executed, tender and well seasoned. The vegetable rosti was mainly made from mashed peas and it had a beautiful crusty edges. The mushroom was cooked with black pepper and the confit herbed tomatoes pretty mediocre. The chicken sausage was juicy and the flavor was excellent with a satisfying crunch when bitten into the skin. The streaky beef on the other hand was extremely salty! Our add on Halloumi was just simply grilled and I think it certainly overpriced for that serving >_<
Spiced Chicken Mac and Cheese (RM 26.00)
Served with crispy pita chips, the Mac and Cheese was adequately rich and cheesy Parmesan and Halloumi gratinee as well as generous amount of chicken ham. The addition of sweet Spanish onion cut through the richness of the dish and the flavors blended together in perfect harmony. Sam dug into her ooey-gooey cheesy pasta with gusto however the portion was too big for her 😛
Verdict: Food prices are on higher side and definitely not a regular casual outing place. To be honest, the food we had was just decent but did not mind-blowing, we’ve had a better brunch session elsewhere.

RM 50 for breakfast?
Ken, Ya, but the food was shared by me & hubby 😛
I went to the gym upstairs over 100 times but still didn’t visit this cafe yet. It is always very popular everyday!! Bojio!
TM, is so my review ignite your interest to visit this place? You know what, I won voucher from a contest and I’m going to visit it a gain, don’t say I bojio, ok! Haha!
I liked the food here and the streaky beef wasn’t salty when I had them but your dish does look a bit different to the one I had (it’s also missing the sweet corn relish). I agree that the food prices are slightly higher than the norm (and your addition of halloumi didn’t help….hehe)! ;D Which is your favourite (and better brunch) place for now? 😉
Kris, when I read your post I also found that my plate don’t have that sweet corn relish but there is no this item in their menu too, maybe they revamped the menu? One of my satisfying breakfast would be at Breadfruits 🙂
Food there must have been delicious. see nearly full house
Small Kucing, the food was decent but didn’t wow me =.=”
