Little Jungle Coffee House @ Taman Gembira, Kuchai Lama
The coffee enthusiast hubby was immediately intrigued by photo of an unusual coffee drink posted by a friend in FB and made a beeline for the coffee house on yesterday.
Occupied a corner shop house at Taman Gembira, Kuchai Lama, Little Jungle Coffee House was brimming with a robust lunch crowd when we reached on 12pm+ yesterday and we had to wait for a while for table.
The place is bright and airy and the interior is typical “Kopitiam” setting with simple round tables and plastic chairs. One of the wall is decorated with photos of patrons posing with their signature food of iced coffee, Nasi Lemak with fried chicken whole leg and pork noodles.
Service was prompt, our table was cleaned while we were seated and order was made in a jiffy.
Joke of the day, if you understand Chinese (⌒▽⌒)
Geng Chow Bing (RM4.50)
This is the “unusual” iced coffee that ignite hubby’s curiosity to check this place out. “Geng Chow Bing” literally mean very powerful ice in Cantonese, and it is indeed has a quite “powerful” appearance. A glass of frothy iced coffee crowed with a big coffee ice cube.
According to hubby, the flavour of the iced coffee (with ice cubes underneath) was decent and with the big coffee ice cube on top, the taste of the coffee remained potent and didn’t diluted like what the usual iced coffee.
Passion Fruit Drink (RM7.50) & Avocado Juice (RM7.50)
The Passion Fruit Drink with a strange Cantonese name of 飞天遁地, which is to describe a very capable person. It is a perfect thirst quencher with passion fruit juice, pulps and soda. The Avocado Juice in light green hue was slightly creamy and the flavour was not as intense as I would have hoped. Perhaps addition of chocolate syrup could make it tastes better.
Kaya Butter Croissant (RM5.20)
The long croissant really hit it out of the park. Arrived hot sandwiched with chilled butter and fragrant kaya (coconut jam), the pastry was pleasantly flaky on the outer, complimented by the sweetness of kaya and the savoury butter. It was irreproachable in taste and texture. Enjoy it hot, the croissant was such a treat!
Half Boiled Eggs (RM1.30/egg – minimum order 2 eggs)
Pork Noodles (RM6.50) + Egg (RM1.20)
Their signature pork noodles didn’t quite live up to our expectation though. They only serve soup version, so both of us got two bowls of pork noddles without innard. At a glance, the soup looked cloudy and full of flavours, but it didn’t impress as much as I thought it would be. The flavour of the broth wasn’t as pronounced, or I would say rather bland for my taste bud. (ノ﹏ヽ) Definitely no where near a good pork noodles for us.
Portion wise, it came with decent amount of minced pork patties, pork balls and pork slices. It also top with delicious crispy fried pork lard and aromatic fried garlic oil. There is a version with addition of wine too (RM8.50). Other food available are Nasi Lemak, Fried Lobak, Fried Fish Paste and Fried Nam Yue Pork Belly.
♥Verdict: The Geng Chow Bing which is the pull factor of our visit was good and I highly recommend the Kaya Butter Croissant. Do come here earlier if you wanna try the Nasi Lemak as it was sold out during our visit.

Very unusual indeed that coffee with a big coffee ice cube on top. I would order it since I am a coffee addict!
PH, location is a bit far from your place (from my place too), so try it when you are happen to be at that area 😛
that’s a lot of coffee in that mug, in both liquid and ice form – worth it for RM4.50 😉
Sean, indeed high in caffeine, haha!
More importantly, why is Taman Gembira and Happy Garden completely different places?
KY, you make me speechless =.=”
Frozen coffee cubes like this (though much smaller in the size of ice cubes) have been making its rounds at cafes for a few years now, so it’s about time coffee shops ‘copy’ it…..hehe! 😉
Kris, kopitiam level up version, hehe ^__^
The iced coffee is interestingly presented. Maybe I should try to do this at home too.
Merryn, definitely not difficult to duplicate at home 🙂
It’s wonderful to try something With so catchy but unfortunately after waited to get a table still have to wait for another 45 mnts just for 1 bowl of curry Mee .. due to slow preparation by some slow motion aunties and delivery are not according to order no’s. Hope will do a better organization in future. And the curry are too on the sweet side. (My personal taste). Gd luck . Will come again.
Sunny, for an eatery that has been viral in social medias, the long waiting is inevitable. Hopefully your next visit will be a more pleasant one. 🙂
Just a normal bowl of curry mee.
Service very hasty. Before finished your food they wanted to clean up the tables.
Anonymous, service was okay during our visit.
