Mr. Dakgalbi @ Solaris Mont Kiara
I’m a huge fan of dakgalbi, a popular south Korea dish that made by stir-frying the marinated chicken cubes in Korean chilli paste sauce (go chu jan) together with ingredients such as sliced cabbage, sweet potatoes, scallions, onions and tteok (rice cake) on a hot plate. I always wanna make a revisit after my maiden experience at Uncle Jang, however my better half not really fond of this tongue-tingling Korean delicacy 🙁
We were at Solaris Mont Kiara area one afternoon and passed by Mr. Dakgalbi where the seductive aroma of stir frying Dakgalbi made me salivating. Hubby was in good mood that day, when I was just about to start pestering he suggested we should try it out ^_^ *hug & muaks*
The interior was in simple wooden theme with a “cooking pit” on every table.
The place also adorned with many black and white as well as colourful murals just like the photo above.
Al-fresco dining area.
Grape Drinks (RM 5.00+) & complimentary drinking water
The simple banchan of pickled white radish, cabbage salad, kimchi and soup was served right after the ordering.
Condiments to go with the Dakgalbi.
Octopus Dakgalbi (RM 23.00+)
Ramen (RM 6.00+)
It’s advisable to wear the provided apron when the cooking process to avoid the spilled oil taint your clothes.
The staff do the stir frying job, all you need is just sit back and wait for the food to be cooked. The waiting process can be quite torturing especially when you’re with a growling tummy >_<“
The ingredients were obviously lesser if compared with what I’ve had at Uncle Jang. Mr. Dakgalbi version consisted of chicken slices, cabbage, rice cake, leek, soy bean sprout and chili paste.
The octopus and ramen were added in later and the cooking process was almost done 🙂
Viola, let’s digging in! Every ingredients was coated thoroughly with crimson red hue chili paste which packed a nice fiery punch. The spiciness level was more “friendly” and tolerable if compare with Uncle Jang. I’m glad to found that there is no minimum order rule which practiced at most of the Korean restaurant.
One can add on cheese, rice, sweet potato and etc for a more wholesome platter. I love my addition added ramen which was springy and every strand was brilliantly clung with pungent sauce.
Chicken Vegetables Fried Rice (RM 12.00+)
Sam had this fried rice omitted the chili paste which was fluffy and fragrant. I think this is the only non-spicy item in the menu 😛
Verdict: The no minimum order concept undoubtedly won my heart and not to mention that the food was good too to lure me for more visits.
