Nasi Ayam Sungai Buloh @ Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh

Located right beside my family’s favourite Dim Sum restaurant, this Nasi Ayam Sungai Buloh often thronged with people whenever we passed by. It does intrigue us and the boss of the Dim Sum restaurant also recommended this place but we never had the urge to step into the shop until one day we let Sam to decide, Dim Sum or chicken rice, and she opted for the latter. ٩(^▿^)۶

Occupied a corner shoplot, Nasi Ayam Sungai Buloh with typical fuss-free Kopitiam setting provides ample of seating for both indoor and outdoor dining.

Due to the shop didn’t provide us the receipt and I apoligize for only manage to get price for the chicken for this post. ⊙︿⊙

The rice was rather fragrant, although not the best I’ve eaten but good to pair with the chicken.

Free Range Poached Chicken (1/2 bird – RM40.00)

This place only serves poached chicken (Hainanese Chicken), so if you’re looking for other options like roasted chicken, roasted pork or Char Siew, this might not be the place for you.

We had the free range chicken aka Choy Yun Gai, which was sufficiently tender and not too fatty with thin crisp skin layer, accompanied by a fairly fragrant soy sauce mixture. The chili dipping packed a nice fiery punch with enough vinegar for extra zing.

Hor Fun (RM3.00)

It’s a very princely serving and instead of usual plain Hor Fun, my bowl of noodles came with a few pork balls and fish balls.

We also ordered meat balls in soup but were a little caught-off-guard by the serving as each plate of rice was served with one bowl of meat balls. This definitely not how the meat ball soup is served that I accustomed to, way too much for us lah! (-‸ლ)

The blanched bean sprouts was good, plump and crunchy.

Verdict: I came with high expectation for a good Hainanese Chicken but I felt an itsy-bitsy disappointment after trying it. The whole combination (chicken + rice) was alright but I wouldn’t say it is fantastic, my number one chicken rice no doubt, still THIS.

  • When I saw your post title, I thought you were having Malay-style (nasi ayam) chicken rice…but turn out to be poached chicken…lol. Your RM3 hor fun very worth it as it comes with meat and fish balls. No meat and fish balls will be too much for my family. Your no. 1 chicken rice is too far lah, must find one nearer where can visit often…lol.

  • Ah! At least you tried it. I thought their chicken looked pretty good. Like Kris, your favorite is too far for me. Even Kepong is too far for me. LOL!

    • PH, luckily Kepong has quite a few good chicken rice that I can visit often and kepong isn’t far for you lah, just pay one toll only, hehe 😛
