Weekend Getaway ~ Holiday Inn Melaka
A road trip to Melaka in my schools days (I’m very old) used to be a very historical visit. I remember the climb to the famous A Formosa Fort and the brilliantly red-paint of Stadthuys.
Nowadays, you still can do those historical visits but with a lot more choices such as awesome food trails, fabulous options of accommodations and a little bit of bargain hunt at night market.
I have decided to brave the ever increasing traffic at Melaka for a short weekend family getaway. Our first stop is Holiday Inn for the sea view of Melaka. Yes, you can get sea view at Melaka.
Holiday Inn Melaka is the city’s award winning hotel with 275 rooms including suites in a gleaming 20-storey white tower, the strikingly modern hotel is a relaxing base to explore the Portuguese-influenced and UNESCO- listed Heritage city. Located on a stylish waterfront of the Straits of Melaka, it is conveniently next to the city’s main shopping and historical interest places and as well as business and entertainment hub.
Hotel lobby ~ Spacious & airy with minimal decors which exudes a laid-back vibe.
The check in counters ~ The check in procedure was a breeze and the gesture of offering light refreshments of muffins and drinks definitely gained an extra brownie point!
Sirocco Bar at lobby offers a cosy and comfortable place to enjoy a glass of drink.
Dessert take-away counter
My Deluxe Room was spacious and boasted a breathtaking view of the Straits of Malacca. Dressed in soothing natural tones, carpeted floor and everything seem spick and span 🙂
Plush mattress, fine cotton sheets & comfortable pillows to ensure a good night’s rest and I slept well throughout my stay.
Options of soft or firm pillows for different preference.
Flat screen TV, DVD player & working desk with huge mirror which acted as my dressing table to put all my skin cares and makeups 😛
The lounge chair right beside the glass window was perfect for some daydream moments overlooking the view of the straits.
Coffee & tea making facilities
The bathroom/toilet.
PS: Fret not for the see-through window as you can put down the blind anytime if you don’t want to be seen ^__*
Separated shower area.
Completed with bathroom amenities such as shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, hair conditioner(!), toothbrush & toothpaste, comb, disposable razor & shaving cream(!!), cotton bud & even rubber band for tying up your hair (!!!) A really nice touch and useful for me as I always forget to bring mine 😛
Other amenities included robe, slippers, iron, iron board, shoe shine (!), hair dryer and safe deposit box.
The scenic view from my room, I really adored it especially when the dawn approaching with the orange-y skyline.
The huge rectangle outdoor swimming pool, desperately want a dip into the water to battle the hot weather but I might become a roasted pig under the scorching sun >.<
The infinity pool overlooking the Straits of Malacca. Father and daughter had chillax time enjoying the magnificent sunset view by pool side.

Wading pool for the little ones.
Guests can also enjoy a massage at the Tea Tree Spa located same floor (2nd floor) with the swimming pool.

The spa centre adopted a exotic Balinese themed with earthy tone furniture and dressed in warm lighting. The atmosphere was serene and tranquil to ensure the guest have an enjoyable session.
There are a few rest area for guests.
Foot massage area
Individual room for full body massage or aromatherapy with natural essence and herbs.
The delicious ginger tea after my massage session, felt revitalized and pampered, I think I should do more when back to KL 😛
Gym nestled in the spa centre.
I want more getaways and when can we do it again? *wink wink to hubby*
Verdict: It was a delightful stay overall, from the well maintained room to the impeccable service from the friendly staff. I also found that Holiday Inn Malaka just won The Best 4-Star City Hotel Award by Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia 2014 & 2014 Travelers’ Choice Award by Tripavisor.com.
