Product Review: PHUTURE® High-Fibre Chick’n
What’s the first thing that comes into your mind when your hear about plant-based meat? Honestly, I like my meat and did’t really care about this meat substitute which from my point of view, they will never replace the real meat.
Plant-based meat or vegan meat, are products made from plant materials. It is created and manufactured to appear, feel, and taste like conventional meat from animal products. Plant-based meats use one or more alternative protein ingredients such as grains and legumes, and make into burgers, sausages, ground meat, crumbles, nuggets, or even faux-seafood like shrimp and fish.
For the past few years, the plant-based lifestyle has become one of the trendiest, healthiest, and most eco-conscious ways to live. The plant-based food industry has grown immensely over the past few years, and one of the reasons of the growing popularity of plant based meats is due to a rise in overall awareness about meat’s impact on the environment and overall health. If you want to know more about plant-based meat, there are numerous related articles online, go Google it! Okay, let’s go back to my product review today.
Thank you for the invitation from PHUTURE®, a Malaysia-based food technology and innovation startup, I was given the opportunity to sample the crispy chicken breast patties and popcorn chicken bites from their recently launched High-Fibre Chick’n range.

♥Verdict: I can’t say these products have 100% changed my perspective on plant-based meat but the “meat” did surprise me, in terms of texture and flavour. They’re definitely an ideal option when I feel like cut down my meat intake and those products also widen the choices of vegetarian food.
High-Fibre Chick’n can be ordered ready-to-eat at www.orderhfc.com and will be available at selected restaurant partners in October.

Instead of KFC it’s now HFC! I won’t mind trying this product as I have tried others before. I think these mock meats are more to make the transition from meat eater to vegetarian less “painful”. I am not against such products but my opinion is that if one is to become vegetarian, let’s be real about it and not eat fake meats.
PH, I think plant-based meat has improved so much in terms of nutrition, texture and flavours, if compared with the previous mock meat that made from soy. I really don’t care to add this is my meal planning if I want a meatless meal, more variety instead of just veggies and mushrooms. 😛
Interesting development with these sort of “meat” kan? They’re surely better than those Chinese vegetarian imitation meat
KY, at least this one with higher fiber content. 🙂
