Au Bon Accueil @ Rue de Monttessuy, Paris
With countless cafés and eateries to choose from in Paris, I chose Au Bon Accueil for one simple reason — this view ↓.
Located along the Rue de Monttessuy, this street is one of the great spots to enjoy and photograph the Eiffel Tower views which offers glimpses of the Eiffel Tower throughout the whole street.
I made reservation via TheFork mobile apps before our trip and we were arranged to be seated outdoor. I came for the view and having dinner under La Dame de Fer felt like a scene straight out of a Parisian postcard definitely one of the life experiences that I will never forget.
Out of respect for the privacy of other diners, I did not take photos of the interior and the outdoor seating. The interior is softly lit, making it ideal for a romantic dinner, while the al-fresco seating offers one of the most enchanting backdrops in Paris.
Au Bon Accueil serves modern French cuisine with a very compact menu. The wine and alcohol drinks list on the other hand was more extensive.
The staff were welcoming and patient in explaining the dishes. It felt like they took pride in not just serving food, but in creating an experience.
Complimentary bread
Lillet Blanc (€8.00)
A French wine-based apéritif to be enjoyed before a meal. It tasted slightly sweet with a soft mouthfeel and balancing delicate quinine bitterness.
French Onion Soup (€15.00)
Hubby had been craving for onion soup since the first day and his wish was grated.
The broth was deeply caramelized and rich, layered with the sweetness of slow-cooked onions. On top, a golden blanket of melted cheese sealed the toasted bread beneath, making each spoonful a satisfying mix of savory, sweet, and comforting textures. It was a warm, indulgent beginning to the meal.
Beef Bourguignon (€28.00)
This timeless French comfort dish was executed with elegance. The beef was slow-braised until fork-tender, with a milder version of red wine gravy. Served with simple poached vegetables and mushrooms that retained their crunchiness and natural flavour – every bite was hearty yet refined — the kind of dish that reminds you why French cuisine is so revered. Topped with a dollop of mustard seed sauce which offered complexity to the overall flavour.
Roasted Lamb Saddle (€32.00)
Perfectly pink in the center, the lamb was delicate in flavor and paired with seasonal accompaniments that balanced the richness of the meat. The roasting brought out its natural sweetness, while the savory sauce added depth without overpowering. It was a dish that combined rustic French tradition with contemporary plating.
If daytime views of the Eiffel Tower are beautiful, evening views are pure magic. We stayed until the evening lights of the Eiffel Tower began to twinkle (circa 9.30pm), I couldn’t help but feel that this was one of those quintessential Parisian moments you never forget.
Verdict: Dining at Au Bon Accueil was more than just a meal — it was a memory etched against the backdrop of Paris’ most iconic landmark. If you’re visiting the city and want to combine refined French cuisine with an unforgettable setting, this little gem should be at the top of your list. The only less pleasant part of al-fresco dining probably is the food can get cold fast due to the weather (the temperature was 15°C ± that evening)
