Hereduan Streetfood @ Pathum Wan, Bangkok
Bangkok never runs out of surprises, and on this trip, I made it a point to explore areas I’d never visited before. That’s how we found ourselves in Pathum Wan, near Chulalongkorn University – a lively, youthful district full of energy, food and surprises.
A large part of the Pathum Wan district is taken up by the campus of Chulalongkorn University and Banthat Thong Road in this area definitely a must visit street for food enthusiasts and seasoned foodies! It is a culinary paradise, offering an authentic taste of Thai street food and traditional restaurants. There are an array of Michelin-starred eateries as well as popular establishments that go viral on the internet such as Jeh O Chula, Nom Nua, Tang Sui Heng and Jae Wan (gained fame after being visited by Blackpink’s Lisa), just to name a few.
We were spoilt for choice and at the end we settled at Hereduan which hubby tried during his previous working trip.
It was almost 9pm and there were still a few groups of customers waiting in the line. Luckily the waiting time wasn’t too long, we were ushered to our table after 10+ minutes.
Dressed in yellowish lighting, the interior has that retro-chic vibe with green tiled tables, cozy booths, and posters sparsely decorated the walls.
For years, Hereduan Streetfood prides itself on the authentic Thai flavors especially its creamy crab omelet rice (590Baht). Other toppings for the omelet rice include mixed seafood (340Baht), Beef (240Baht) or Chicken/Pork (200Baht). There’s even a list of dishes of crab meat topping served on rice or noodles (560Baht & 590Baht), with a pile of scrumptious looking white, plump (pure) crab meat. (’┓`*)
The menu covers single dish rice dishes such as Thai bird eye chili and garlic stir fried crab/seafood/chicken/pork, Thai basil stir fried (140Baht – 560Baht), ala carte dishes like Thai Sour Pork Sausage Salad, Raw Salmon/Shrimps in Lime Sauce, Spicy Glass Noodles Salad, Fresh Veggies with Shrimp Paste Dip / Thai Northern Style Pork and Tomato Dip, Tom Yum Gung, Fried Omelet, Steam Thai Curry Fish Cakes (160Baht – 340Baht).
The beverages choices comprise fruit sodas, herbal drinks, soft drinks, milky iced drinks, beer and wine.
Thai Milk Tea (69Baht) & Iced Water (30Baht)
Spicy Deep Fried Pork Neck Salad (220Baht)
Bright, zingy, and spicy with chunks of tender deep fried pork neck, unidentified vegetable, onion and a tangy lime dressing. It gave a much-needed acidic punch to complement the richness of the our next dish.
Creamy Omelet with Stir Fried Bird’s Eye Chili & Garlic Seafood on Rice (340Baht)
Creamy, fluffy scrambled eggs sat under a mountain of wok-tossed squid, prawns, chopped green chilies, and crispy garlic cloves, on pool of eggy sauce. The texture was divine and the balance of seafood umami with buttery egg was unforgettable.
Verdict: The omelet rice was appealing from the presentation to the flavour. The salad was a bit too spicy for us, I would have requested to tone down the spiciness for better enjoyment.

The two dishes you ordered are something I have never seen at Thai restaurants here. They look tasty and I would have enjoyed those dishes. I have never been able to appreciate the appeal of milk tea!
PH, I knew a place serves similar omelet rice in Ara Damansara, but always long queue, so I have yet try out. I don’t like milk tea too, don’t like the smell. >_<
When I have Thai pork neck, the sauce is always served separately…but this one is served on top of the sauce which looks zingy and refreshing. Creamy scrambled omelette (a departure from the usual deep fried omelette) with seafood (the prawns are especially plump) looks very good too.
Kris, the pork neck was served as salad, so it came with sauce (dressing).
